The printer will get jammed with the paper inside if this part is not working properly at the time I try to print something.

So, I guess, yes, I need the part so that the paper delivers properly. I called dell but the person I spoke to said that they coul not sell that specific part. So, what do I do know?. Thanks,

What do you mean? Do you actually want the paper to deliver out the back? Do you need the part that goes to the back so the paper delivers properly? Explain...

Call Dell Services. They will be able to help you purchase any part you need.

The specific part you are needing sounds like the fuser. I know for a fact they sell this part. Without seeing your printer, I can't say for sure if fuser needs to be replaced.

I have an open heat error on my Dell Laser MFP 1600n, can you help ?

Heat errors are usually caused by the fuser (part# N5796). ItemInc.com has this in stock and ships same day for $99. Installation should be pretty simple. On most Dells, the fuser is located on the back of the machine, open the rear door and it is usually held in by 4 screws. Good luck, and thanks for using FixYa!

Dell 1600n to be used on an imac

Hello! Unfortunately, Dell printers mainly supply Windows drivers on their website. To print to this printer, your new iMac will probably pull a generic driver to use with the printer. It should still work no problem, as you're saying, however you won't be able to use the software that's available on the PC. The downloads available for your Dell printer are here:
Dell 1600n Printer Downloads

You can tell by clicking that link and looking under Operating System that only Windows operating systems are available, as well as the software shown below, which is only made for Windows based systems. As for the PaperPort software, that program is made by a company called Nuance. When you purchased your printer, you most likely received a trial or full OEM version from Dell along with your new printer as a software bundle deal. From what I can see, the software is only Windows based. Sorry!

Below is the link to a free viewer that can still read your PaperPort files:

Document Jam in Dell 1600n

The Automatic Document Feed (ADF) has a white rubber pad that wears out. You can find it by opening the ADF cover and removing the roller bar. Under that is the white rubber pad. Pinch the sides together and the assembley comes out. Contact Dell for the replacement. You may also refer to the Dell 1600n Owners Manual for instructions.

Dell 1600N Multifunction printer problem.

Fuser issues - if problem is reoccuring then you are looking at more expense, are all vents free of obstructions (folders leaning on machine sides/rear) is machine being flogged, is power supply consistent, maybe even fuser bought was faulty, many options, try doing a warranty claim on fuser or replace again, even better get another printer, welcome to our throw away world!
