Have you paid the one time activation fee to enable external hard drives to be connected to your DVR? Per the link below that is required first.

    rimamaron107,

My name is Ray Calo with DISH Network. As snaxx1989 stated, the USB port on the receiver has to be activated to use an external hard drive (EHD). I have included other requirements for external hard drives:

    Requirements
Customer must have an EHD with the following features:
    USB 2.0
External power source (not powered by the receiver’s USB port)
Minimum size of 50GB / Maximum size of 1TB
Activate the EHD feature on account

Finally, these are the receivers supported:

    Supported Receivers
    211 211k 411 612 622 722 722k 922

If you have any other questions, please respond here, or tweet us at Twitter.

    Thank you.

Is there anyway to get recorded shows back that were accidently deleted?

Hey there, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. There is unfortunately not any way to get recorded shows that have been accidentally deleted. What you can do for next time is connect an external hard drive to your receiver. The external hard drive will need to be a minimum size of 50gb and maximum size of 2tb for DVR receivers and minimum 50gb and maximum 1tb for non DVR receivers. This will save all recorded shows in case anything should happen to your DVR receiver. I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions or concerns feel free to email me directly at [email protected].

Dish Dvr 612.. I accidently deleted my recordings. How do I recover

esriniv

If you have deleted your recordings from your 612 receiver, there is not a way to retrieve those recordings. To prevent this from happening in the future, you can connect an external hard drive to the receiver and transfer the recordings to the external hard drive. I have provided a link with more information about an external hard drive. I hope this helps.

My dvr freezes every hour then it says your hard drive is corrupted and everything must be deleted so I let it delete and everything goes fine for about 30 minutes to an hour and then the same thing...

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. The problem you are having is a Hard Drive issue. If you have already deleted all the recordings and reset the receiver (unplugged it from the wall outlet for 10 seconds and then let it reboot) and are still having an issue, then the receiver must be replaced. You can contact Dish Network at 1-800-333-3474 or on line at http://www.dishnetwork.com/customerservice/contactus/live_chat/default.aspx, or e-mail me directly with your account# or phone# at [email protected] and we can get this set-up for you. I hope this helps resolve your issue.

ViP211-HD DVR button won't work.....can't record any channels.....also the 'record' button doesn't respond either......

Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network. I'm sorry about any inconvenience, but the ViP211 is not a DVR receiver. If you have an external hard drive, you can activate the feature on the 211 to allow you to record movies to the external hard drive. It is a one time $40 to activate the external hard drive feature. Also, we can always look at getting a DVR receiver installed to replace the 211. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].

Recordings are being removed and those that are there, don't play very well. I would like to start over with the drive. How do I reset/reformat the drive letting the DVR box do the work?

Hey! Becki Barned with Dish Network customer service here! You have a couple options: You can just delete all recordings and start over that way, or you can format the Hard Drive to your computer, then reformat it to your receiver. But here is a link on our site for the hard drive. http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/use-ehd Hope this helps!!!!

Tech support tells me that hard drive failed, but I have valuable recordings that I need.

Hey there! Becki Barned with Dish Network here! I am sorry about losing recordings. :( That is an unfortunate event that can happen at times. You do, however, always have the option of connecting an external hard drive to your receiver, and keeping the dvr events on there! It is $40 to get it started on your account, then you are free to download anything after that! It is a great feature, and if you have to lose your recordings again, you could look into that! Here is a link on our website if you want to look into it further. Enjoy! http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/use-ehd

Copy shows from dishnetwork 510 receivers to external hd

ic_technolog,

External Hard Drives are not supported on the 510 receiver. The 211, 211k, 411, 612, 622, 722, 722k, and 922 are all capable of having an external hard connected via the USB port on the receiver and a one time activation fee of $40. I hope this helps.

DMR E80H hard drive

DMR-E80H Hard drive problem seems to pretty common. My drive started making the famaous kerchunk noise tonight. After disassembly I see the drive is a ATA133 Maxtor drive....are you sure that you replaced it with the correct drive? I may contact Maxtor and try to get an RMA since the drive is only 3yrs old. Good Luck
