My car wont start - 1996 Ford Explorer

Have a buddy turn the key on run while you get down by your fuel tank and listen for the fuel pump. If you don't hear anything try hitting it while the key is still on run. Sometimes this helps. Still get a new pump even if that helps. Trust me! If the fuel pump works, check to see if there is fuel pressure in the rail.
If it is a spark issue, take out an easy to reach spark plug and reattach the wire. Lay it on the plenum of the motor so the threads are touching metal. Have someone turn the engine over while you look to see if the spark plug is sparking. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING WHILE SOMEONE IS CRANKING! Just make sure the threads are properly touching metal before cranking. If no spark is seen you can try to relocate it but just make sure it is not being cranked while you are touching it. Be careful! That will at least help you find out if it is lacking fuel, or spark.

Try replaceing starter relay with another of your relays. make sure they have the same part number on them if you switch them and it starts replace relay with new.

what do you mean not start wont turn over or turns over and wont start there are many reasons the car wont start if it turns over
1 immobilizer broken
2 faulty leads or plugs
3 lack of fuel
4 fuel pump broken
5 coil packs gone
6 if diesel glow plugs
7 faulty injectors
8 spark plug gap
9 timing correct

This behaviour is typical of worn starter motor main contacts, at the bottom of the starter solenoid.

99% of the time your car wont start if timing belt has jumped or broke you will still have spark but wont start
