Question about HP Photosmart 3310 Printer
I have an HP 3310 all in one photosmart printer which has failed. It was purchased in Oct of '05 & is out of warranty by several months. Prior to receiving the following error message:Ink System Failure Oxc 18a 0106 I had not problems with the printer. I used email HP support & did everything they suggested but nothing worked. I even searched on google trying resets suggested; held down OK, cancel, black & color buttons several times which caused machine to go thru OVM reset with machine then going thru device maintanence, but each time it then displayed the error message again.

Refer to NateOcean's solution at http://www.fixya.com/support/t297123-ink_system_failure. My Photosmart 3310 also had the loose plastic gear problem at the ink pump. Seems that all the HP inkjet printers use the same mechanical system and that gear can just slip off over time. My printer was two years old. NOTE: You have to remove the black and white gear with belt to replace the white gear that slips off. Remove the belt first by slackening the tensioner pulleys. Then there is a very small white clip against the axel that prevents the large gear from being pulled off - lift the white tab carefully with something sharp and the gear should slip off easily. The culprit gear then just pushes onto the hex shaft.
This operation should be possible by just opening up the left hand side of the printer.
