  • kiddatplay Feb 05, 2009

I have the same problem with my Apple aluminum keyboard. I spilled some liquid on the number pad and now a few of the keys stick so bad they won't work. How does this thing open up?

Four keys in Belkin wireless keyboard are not working

If only specific keys are not working, something is obstructing those keys\' pickups which are located immediately beneath the keys. This is almost always caused by food debris or liquid spillage as dust doesn\'t provide particles big enough to cause issues.

If those four keys feel "funny" when being pressed, it\'s almost certainly a physical obstruction. If they feel "sticky" it\'s always a liquid spill. If you don\'t recall spilling anything over the keyboard, use a can of compressed air (found at office supply stores).

Turn the keyboard long side up, with the keys leaning slightly downward. Place the air nozzle close to the intersections of the keyboard, starting at one side and work your way to the other side, using short bursts of air. Repeat for every row of keys. Pay special attention to the four that do not currently work.

You\'ll probably see lots of junk fall out of the keyboard. That\'s good, if so--I would then retest the keyboard (no need to reboot the computer). That should fix it--if not, you may have to resort to pulling off the keys that don\'t work. The next possibility would be broken key hinges, but that\'s beyond the scope of this reply.

For liquids, cleaning is hit or miss. If left long enough, liquids will eat away at the circuits, or provide a short circuit and kill the component. Since only four keys are affected, I\'m really leaning towards food debris, but if you did spill a liquid, you can disassemble the keyboard and clean up any residue under and around the keys. Probably best to use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip for that--but if you\'re not comfortable taking stuff like this apart, it might be time for a new keyboard, or find a handy friend. Good luck!

SOME KEYS DONT WORK, DUE 2 WATER, SPACE KEY AND @ KEY

This problem is not worth fighting. Keyboards get crumbs in them, beverages get spilled/splashed on them, they get dusty and a some keys just start sticking with use.
You can purchase a new out of the box inexpensive replacement keyboard for $10.00. There's a variety of others available with more features and ergonomics etc.... for slightly more.
By the time you spend trying to clean existing unit with alcohol or cleaning solvents you will have more time invested than it's worth. I usually end up doing enough damage that results in replacement anyway.

My Keyboard keys are not working

Hi

Check if other keyboard is working fine with the comp.

In very rare cases, normally due to liquid spill, the keyboards conk off. A key or two not working is common. Whole keyboard not working is rare.

The keys have clogged up and all the keys dont work becouse water has gone iside any solutions

Replacement.

That is the ONLY solution for keyboards that have ANY kind of liquid spilled into them.

I can replace the keyboard and check the inside of the computer for additional damage that may have occurred because of the spill.

Not all keys on keyboard work properly

Not likely, if the regular alphabet and numbers don't work then there is something sticky spilled under the keys.
you can remove the back and the membrane and wipe it clean. takes a bit of work.
