My Acer Aspire AM5641 had the blue screen pop up one day and say that there was a hardware problem and Windows was forcing a shut down. Couldn't get it back up...just no signal to monitor. Checked harddrive in other unit, it was fine. Tried a reboot with only one memory card, then no memory cards. Still no results.. Any suggestions? Three months out of warranty & they won't even respond..?

    Can't find any of the original discs...Just turned the computer on again, monitor says no signal and the computer doesn't even beep, just initially winds up and thats it...? Motherboard gone..? Thanks

    Actually disconnected the two discdrives and the graphic card as well and tried a reboot, and still no different response. Thought this may help seeing as the initially warning from Microsoft was that a hardware problem was identified and it was forcing a shutdown...Any idea of costs for either a motherboard or a potential popwersupply, if that could possibly be the mess up here. Thanks guys! Aaron

    I did add a logitech webcam installed about two weeks before it went down. It was a completely new unit out of the box from Best Buy. Other then that, this has just been a home used unit with minimum running time. Thanks

    Unfortunately I didnt't get the code for Microsoft shut down as I thought it was just something temporary..

    Sorry, I did install Norton 2 year Security as well about four days before it went down.

If you have the system restore CDs or a restore partition you can try to do a repair install of windows through that. Let me know if you have the media or a partition and I can assist you further.

    Try pressing F8 before it boots to the Windows splash screen and see if you can get the boot up options to come up. If so, you should try to boot with the last Good Configuration that worked, and then if that doesn't work try to boot into safe mode and uninstall the webcam and norton. Probably just the Norton first, as it is the most current thing to come about. NOTE: You should remain offline while doing this and if it works go online and immediately download an alternative antivirus program.

your video has failed . on this unit I work on this exact unit every day. the video is what we call integrated and there is a big problem with this there is no video card it is integrated on the mother board . the problem is the motherboard is almost impossible to find. my company services the whole united states and if your unit brakes and you have a secondary warranty i am the first line of contact . and the motherboard for this unit I can rarely fin . if it helps the part number is mb.sam09.001

Brand and model of acer aspier am5641-b5560

If I understood you well, the XP OS installed on WD IDE HDD belongs to another computer, in this case you cannot simply install it on your Acer computer and expect it to boot without problems because the hardware is different. What you can do in this case is a fresh Windows installation.

If now there is ok you don't need to replace it. But if you really need that then this one is almost identical

We got the Acer aspire one a week ago, registered and got started. Everything was fine, then I went to get on it and there is a windows screen with a bar moving and it will not proceed to the desktop bar...

Sounds like your stuck on the Loading screen for the OS. If you bought it one week ago contact customer support or return it and get it fixed. You could easily do this by reinstalling the OS but you should have a professional do it since your waranty for a year should be up from the maker.

Thats called the blue screen of death. Do you hear any clicking from the hard drive at all? Have you gotten it wet? Have you dropped it? This most likely is a result of hardware failure but can also be caused by malware. Do you have another computer with CD burning capability? You could burn a few hardware tests onto cds and test the memory and the hard drive. google memtest86 for a memory test and DFT or Drive Fitness Test for a hard drive test utility. These have to be booted to by the laptop.

Acer Aspire 5715Z/5315 will load Acer page then black/blue screen after Windows update

You have a corruption in youre recover partition.You need to reinstall os with xp cd or vista cd and delete recovery parttition and create one whole partition.Then go to acer website and retrieve drivers. Anyfurther assistance you can reach me at [email protected]. make it a great day.

My computer keeps restarting itself

  1. Start laptop
  2. When the laptops Logo page closes, start to press F8
  3. You should get a Windows Start screen
  4. If you get a Windows Logo page (the kind you normally get when Windows loads, then reset it and start again.
  5. On the Windows Start page select "Last known good configuration" and press enter twice
