When I play either a DVD or AVI file, I get a red line on monitor

When I play either a DVD or AVI file, I get a red line down the center of the monitor. I've un-installed and re-installed all drivers and I've changed the monitor. I've tried playing with refresh rate, all to no avail. Any suggestions?

    Montesmack, thanks for the reply.
I just completed a new build. Once everything was up and running I played several videos on Microsoft media player. All had the red line. I then tried on Nero which also had the red line. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the vga drivers, the red line is still there. When I play the movies on my other computers the red line isn't there. I'm thinking it has something to do with the on-board graphic card???

Also, the line only appears when I play a DVD or Avi file. Haven't tried any other files. The movies are clear and audible. Just the red line.

Hello again, sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I'm a board op at a natural gas plant and the plant is not running very well right now, so it has been nothing but work and sleep this week. Enough excuses now about your video... did you install any video codec packs? (I use the Divx codec to play AVI files with media player) can you try a discrete video card? if not have you tried to remove the video card driver and use the generic vga driver in windows, what operating system are you using and is it the 64 bit version did you install the newest chipset drivers for the mobo? does it have the most up to date bios? how about the monitors did you install a drivers for them? do you have a spare hard drive around that you could use to reinstall windows on, then before you update or install anything try installing Divx (but only the codec) I did some looking around and found a few site where people were having graphic problems with this board but not your specific problem. If we can't get this working can you return the board? do you have a time limit for returning it? post your answers as a comment and I'll be notified (I should be able to answer you faster this time as I only have 2 night shifts left before days off) thank you

Hello. did you try new codecs? free with Divx, you can deselect all options during install (all but the grayed out one). when did the problem start? was it after a hardware or software install? post your answers as a comment and I'll be notified thank you

Panasonic DVD S48 - DVD player how to play movies over usb

Yes, I know Panasonic DVD S48, if your movie file is right divx avi movie file, you can directly transfer the divx avi movie file to your usb disk and play on your Panasonic DVD S48, but if your movie files isn\'t divx avi movie file, you have to use a right software to convert your movies to right divx avi movies, then transfer to your usb disk, convert any movies to divx avi movies.

My fukuda dvd player plays video files (AVI) from flashdisk (USB) but... the sound is not smooth...

Most DVD players only accept MPEG-2 in standard VOBs. Some of the older standalone DVD players do not play AVI at all. Now some of the newer DVD players support AVI encoded with DivX. Look into the player manual, it'll tell you what formats are supported. If the DVD player does not support AVI, it will fail to play AVI files even if we have successfully burn AVI to DVD disc.

In order to successfully play all kinds of AVI files on any DVD player model, an all-in-one solution is to convert AVI to DVD player more compatible format.

Can I play a movie with extension avi on alba dvd plyer?

Unless stated otherwise, either on the player itself, or in the instruction manual, no. You would need to convert the .avi file to DVD compliant format in order to play it. ConvertXtoDVD can do this and can give you the option of burning the converted result directly to DVD-R. It is a shareware program.

Many DVD players can handle .divx files on a CD-R, but takes a while to read the contents before playing them, then there are .mp3 and .jpeg which is a fairly common file format, playable almost anywhere. It is unlikely or extremely rare that any standalone DVD player or similar external device can play .avi raw data files successfully.

There are heaps of video conversion software programs available.

Sony CD/DVD Player DVP-NS50P not playing my avi files DVD+RW

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

How can i play AVI files on my media center/player on vista

Hi,
Windows Vista Media Center won’t play Xvid and Avi files, even if Windows Media Player will play these files. If you want to add support for third party codecs including Xvid and Avi files in Vista Media Center then you need to install the media control plugin for Windows Vista Media Center.
To install the Codec please click on the below link or copy the URL and paste it in your web browser..
http://damienbt.free.fr/index.php#download
This plugin allows Windows Vista Media Center to utilize te FFDShow decoder, which needs to be installed seperately ((FFDShow rev 1108 recommended: download the last version from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout)) FFDShow adds support to Vista for MPEG-4 video formats like DivX, Xvid, H.264 and also alllows MP3, AAC, Dolby AC3, and OGG Vorbis audio files to be played back.
have any other queries, please let me know..
Thank you.....

Panasonic VCR/DVD Player

You need to convert the .avi files to the MPEG format with software. Just renaming the file will not work.
