Question about Samsung SyncMaster 171S 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor displays white and white only!

We've tested the ports and computer and they're working fine with other monitors (even the same model) but when we plug this one in it only displays plain white regardless of the video setting. Yes, we've tried rebooting! Thanks in advance for any info.

Gateway all in one touch screen model zx4931 turns on then shuts off before monitor can boot on.

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Good luck.

Why has my monitor turned orange. model dylm19r6 computer monitor

If you mean the light on your monitor is orange instead of green, it means the monitor is not receiving data from the computer.

Elitebook 8470p not displaying to remote monitor with KVM

Is the laptop actually detecting an output when the KVM is plugged in? Try forcing output with Windows + P (Vista/7) or a function key (not sure what it is for the 8470p).

why not try a dead display on 2 machines 2 PCs
using only 1 data cable at a time why try to confuse it????????

the OSD must work, or the display is bad or the power supply to it is dead.
easy as apple pie.

the monitor has a tiny computer inside it (micro)
on mine, the data lines dead shows NO SIGNAL in the screen
every time you I power up my monitor with data cables pulled off.

best is to read the book for your monitor, and run all the tests it
tells you there,

Benq g900w monitor used to work..now displays message 'no cable connected'. i have checked my laptop and it says that it IS connected and working effectively???

Well with all generic monitors, even after working fine for so long, one day you will wake up plug them in and there it goes no cable connected...
IF that is the case, i usually recommend the drivers first.. Uninstalling the drivers...
Go to manufacturers of the laptop website, more than likely the drivers can be outdated, the actual port is not working and or the monitor is bad, those are the three things that can really happen in this case...

Go to the laptop manufacturers website. Under support and downloads section,
update the driver for the display adapter, and that will resolve any issue with the drivers usually if it is a port issue it can just be outdated drivers as well, so once updated and restarted try connecting back the monitor and see what happens...
if it used to work and stopped test the monitor on another system see if it works if it does then and you already updated your drivers for display on laptop then call the laptop people and see what is happening... but the drivers should be your resolution...
Good luck hope this works for you...

My lg flatron l1710s flashes on and then the picture goes out and thats it but the power light stays green

This is highly suggestive of a power supply failure to deliver the voltages required. A new power pcb should fix the problem but is a job for an experienced repairer.
