Question about Xerox XG-91D 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Xerox Hi! I have a Xerox XA7-19i  monitor with similar problems: blank black screen after a few minutes use. I suppose that this is also a capacitor problem. But I cannot find out how to disassemble this monitor. Can you help me? There might be some trick... Thanks a lot! Barney2008

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

Hi, I have Samsung Syncmaster 226cw monitor. When i turn it on the screen flickers then goes black. If i do this a few times it sorts itself out. During the flickering there is a high pitch buzzing...

I have the identical model with the same problem, I pulled it apart and the power supply/inverter board are one, and descovered the problem was in the inverter transformers, { 2 in all } because my monitor is 3 to 5 years old I felt replacing the whole board assembly would not justify the cost since something else could break down, I opted for a new monitor.

Hi Nancy.

From the sounds of it, your screen has the dreaded " cap flu".

This is a condition where the capacitors do not function the way they are supposed to, and as such, do not energize the screen in order to it to start.

This is because a few years ago, there were some companies that made several MILLION capacitors that were all junk, and they knew it.

They still released these bad parts into the electronics industry, and they have found there way into lcd tv's, flat screen monitors, gps unit, microwaves, stereos, and several other devices.

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this, as it requires a special service tech to repair them.

I recommend taking the screen to Fry's Electronics, or BestBuy...they both have top notch service and repair departments, and can get your screen going again.

Before you get it repaired though, you might consider getting estimates on the repairs, as it might cost as much to repair the one that you have, as it would to just get a new screen.

I hope this helps you out in understanding what is wrong, and gives you an idea of what to do next.

Good luck to you, and have a nice day !

Asus Monitor boes blank and comes back after power recycle

1. You can see images on the screen for a few minutes. That means there is nothing wrong with your computer.

2. When your screen goes blank, if you disconnect and then reconnect the monitor, it shows fine again for a few minutes before going blank (or dim) again. That means the problem is not with you video card.

3. It always shows the image after reconnection for exactly a few minutes before going blank again. yes? this means that there is nothing wrong with your cable.

Conclusion: Sorry, but you do not have many options. I bleieve that the problem is with your monitor that's going bad. Its far cheaper to get it replaced than to repair it.

Hi guys I've got XA7-19i 900p and I had the same problem But I've got it repaired myself. This is common issue and problem is in the power supply unit. I have changed 6 capacitors 470uF 25v and 1 capacitor 220uF 25v. It will definitely help! Try to google it you will find instruction how to do it.

My monitor is getting off

I have a similar issue. A search at Tomshardware web site suggests that faulty capacitors are the issue and that this is a widespread problem certainly with the VX922. Several guys on the Tomshardware post claimed that replacing the capacitors solved the problem (their units were out of warranty anyway).

Try unplugging the power cord to your computer tower, click the power button to drain the capacitors in the mother board then plug the power cord back in and try to boot up. Has helped me repair several similar black screen problems. Chuck Housecall101@aol.com

I had the same problem. I contact the manufactuer and they refused to fix it. They said it would cost an additional $100 to have it fixed. I have not even had it a year. I thought products sold in America were suppose to last longer than a year? What has happened to companies standing behind there products. Beware of this monitor!!! DO NOT BUY IT!!! LT1919WDB

Blank screen for 15-20 minutes at startup

I have a Xerox XA7-19i. It has the same problem as described by many others - intermittent fault with the display that manifests as a white screen when the monitor is first switched on. After a few trys of switching on and off, the monitor works fine until left off for a few hours. Recently, the problem deteriorated to no light from the panel, and a flashing blue power light.

I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED MY MONITOR:

I opened up my monitor and removed the power supply board.
I de-soldered every electrolytic capacitor, and replaced them with new capacitors of the same uF and voltage rating.
I put the monitor back together again and switched it on - it worked perfectly!

Yes - these monitors have been built using sub-standard / under-rated electrolytic capacitors. After two years of use, the power supply board was unable to supply enough power to the logic board and backlight, causing the above-mentioned problems.

The repair cost me ~ GBP 15 (USD $30). It is not a difficult fix, but one only to be attempted if you have electronics knowledge. Careful, kids! you'd be playing with the power supply of a mains AC electronic device. That stuff can kill.

But - I saved myself (and the environment) from having to throw out a monitor and buy a new one. If you have a faulty xerox monitor and are getting no love from Xerox customer support, find an electronics geek and ask them to replace the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board. (but be careful to get the right kind of capacitors, and to get the capacitor polarity correct. If you have any doubt as to you ability to do this, don't bother trying!).

Good luck!
