Problem for Toshiba MW20FM1 20 in. Combo
Toshiba MW20FM1 DVD section quits
The DVD player quits at random intervals-powers itself down.No indication on screen,though TV stays on-just black.Disc will not eject.Cycle power on set,disc plays again-usually for no more than a few minutes.I am a tech.Have checked the power supply for the DVD-it is being shut down.The main power light stays on.All other TV/VCR functions are OK.

- I took the DVD chassis apart completely to get a P/N and looked for bad solder joints,etc.Found none,but after I reinstalled the board (and applying a no-residue cleaner to all connectors) the DVD played fine! have not had a call back from the owner-though she knows that an aftermarket player can be used with the TV's external input jacks if needed.Same Problem

- I acquired an MW20fm1 for use during a hospital stay but there are no remotes that work with it and the DVD is useless.The picture is better than any I have seen and want to keep it around the house for a spare but alas, what to do?

am toshiba authorized servicer-have same model in shop for same problem-dvd board is defective-new board is about 290 from toshiba america parts-tv is actually made by orion with toshiba name stuck on outside-orion is junk-cost more than new set to fix-junk it and buy a panasonic-so far they still make their oun stuff

I too cleaned all DVD connections, reinstalled everything, and boom! Fixed!!

- My DVD portion on this set was totally dead. The VHS and TV worked fine. I too, removed the DVD section on this set, scrubbed the board with alcohol and a toothbrush, put it all back together, and BOOM!! Fixed!!!Yes
