I don't have a solution, but I do have the same problem(96 explorer) the voltage regulator is in the alternator. The reading I get is a failed voltage regulator, I've replaced the alt twice and the same reading appears. A friend and I traced the wires from the alt and no wires are damaged. When I'm driving, the battery gauge bounces, but after driving for about 10mins it's back to its normal position for awhile, but then it drops again. Any other suggestions to resolve this problem?

Trace all of the wires that are attached to the alternator. If there is a fusible link or a broken wire you will find it. If the alternator is charging but something else is wrong the alternator will pull a steel wrench toward it. You did not mention the voltage regulator. You will find it when tracing your wires. Look it over carefully. Voltage regulators fail keeping the alternator from working. Parts stores have regulators and they are easy to install.

96 ford explorer battery light on volt guage high then lights blink and drops to normal and batt light goes off for a few seconds then it does it again but it does not die. Whats wrong?

Sounds like you may have a voltage regulator going bad in your alternator. They will usually check them for free at chain parts stores. Probably won't even have to take it off the vehicle.

i might be a bad altinator but i would double check your battery. a bad battery will kill a new altinator. does the battery light stay on? if the battery light on the dash is not on you may have another problem...

96 ford exployer wont stay running new battery but not new and new alternator really new jump start run but will die in 5-10 mins

Check the harness for a break at the splice about one foot back of the alternator,it's a common area of failure. If thats not it then check the fusible link that comes from the starter relay and goes to the alternator.

96 Ford explorer. 4x4 lights blink.

possibility you have a bad battery that will not hold a charge or an alternator that is not charging the battery to it's potential, might want to get it checked in a shop....or try changing the battery....if it keeps up, it could be the alternator.....hope this helps...shia

Charging system on 1997 ford explorer

sorry, probably not. the charging specs need to be checked. with accessories on, ck volts and amps. should be 13.8 minimum volts and around 2-8 amps or so. the only other thing i can think of if it is charging is to ck single thin wire behind alternator for good connection. i believe that is the reading for the dash lite.
