How to empty it

1. Push down on carry handle and
pull dirt container away from unit.

2. Once it is pulled back lift it out.

3. Hold dirt container over trash can and push down on bottom
release lever to release debris.

4. Close bottom cover on the dirt
cup until it snaps shut.

While you have the dirt container out you can also clean the Lifetime HEPA filter. It is on the top of the dirt container.

1. Twist lid to the left to remove lid and filter from
container

2. Remove foam filter from dirt container and dump out
any loose dirt. Wash the foam filter.

3. Remove the HEPA filter by Twist filter handle to the left and
pull out of lid. Wash the Heap filter.

4. Once the filters are thoroughly dry (I recommend set out for 24 hours) then installer filters in lid and thread back on top of the dirt canister.

Before replacing the dirt canister you can also clean the exhaust filter install below the dirt canister on the top vacuum cleaner head.

1. Loosen the exhaust grille by pressing the locking tab, and
remove it.

2. Remove and shake out the exhaust filter and wash it.
Note: Scented filter are not washable.

3. Once the filters are thoroughly dry relace it and snap the
exhaust grill into place.

Replace the dirt container
NOTE: Dirt container will not
align on base if filter is not
aligned properly.

Loss of suction power & exhaust coming out of vents beneath exhaust port w/ barely/if any air pressure out of port itsef.

You should find your user manual, look up the phone number for Shop Vac's customer service and call them. They will be very helpful and with the unit being no older than that, it should still be in warranty. They will probably have you send it back and will possibly just send you a whole new unit.

How can I raise the idling of my 1998 Ford Escort Zx2?

these particular vehicles were designed so that a idling problem be it high or low can no longer be simply adjusted by turning a screw, what a low or irregular idle means is that an electronic sensor that in part is responsible for your engines smooth idling has failed, unfortunately there are several,as well as some emission control components that could be responsible for this. It would be best to have a diagnostic check to locate the problem. if you cant find someone who offers free diagnostic checks, there are online auto repair help guides and trouble shooting available from auto zone, Because its a ford my educated guess is the egr valve or its sensor

Stopped running. Filter was clogged. Cleaned filter and changed bag, but still won't start. Motor was warm when it stopped.

Hi There,

This sounds like the Thermal Switch in your motor tripped. All Riccar vacuum cleaners have a motor reset switch, that will shut the motor down when it gets hot. Usually it's caused by a full bag, clog, or dirty filter.

Try resetting the thermal switch first. If this doesn't work, you may have done some more serious damage to the motor, and it might be a good idea to take it into a local Riccar dealer in your area.

Here's a step by step guide on how to check the reset switch on your Riccar 8850:

To reset the thermal fuse:
  1. Unplug the vacuum cleaner
  2. Check for problem – over–filled bag, clog in hose, clogged filters, etc.
Remove the vacuum bag, and see if you can visibly see any obstructions, or replace the bag if it's full:

Also inspect the Secondary filter while you have the vacuum bag removed from the machine. If the filter is clogged or dirty, rinse under warm water, and air dry completely before reinstalling it into the vacuum. It's best to wash this filter every 30 days, and replace after 4-5 washings.

Here's a link to the secondary filter on our website if you ever need to purchase one:

Your Riccar 8850 also has a set of exhaust filters that are on the front of the vacuum, near the bottom where the upright body meets the agitator housing. These filters when clogged may also cause the thermal switch to trip. These filters are recommended to be replaced every 6-12 months, and are not recommended to be washed.

Here's a link to 2 sets of the exhaust filters for the Riccar 8850 on our website:

It's also possible that you may have clog in the suction port inside of the agitator housing. Remove the bottom plate from the vacuum, and look for the tube that runs on the left hand side from the tray to the rear of the agitator housing. Make sure that this tube is clear from obstructions:

Locate "tripped" fuse – the small white button located on the bottom of the back side of
the main body (roughly one inch to the right of the left wheel)

Using a pencil, paper clip or other pointed object, push the reset button in, you should hear a clicking noise when it resets.

Plug the vacuum cleaner back into the wall, and try turning the vacuum on. It should come right back on. If not, it's best to take your machine into a local Riccar authorized repair facility for further more advanced diagnosing.

Please feel free to ask any follow up questions by adding a comment to this repair, I'm always more then happy to answer any and all follow up questions if you need some clarification. If this was helpful, please rate the repair helpful or leave some feedback for me. Thanks so much,

Chris Jones

amber it might be a valve stuck get a straw and blow air into the solution valve under tank on right or try droping scooba 2 inches from ground as this might reset the ball valve .
