Question about HP Pavillion ZV6000 Notebook

1 Answer

Hp 6000 hp refuses to support their product. My daughter closed the notebook and on opening it the next day the screen had a tree like fuzzy picture which goes right to the corner of a hinge. I have seen this with glass in windows and this is exactly the same thing. There is no way it was damages from the outside. I think it is iether a design problem or an installation problem. Any ideas? I plan to sue them at small claims.

Hp wanted $750.00 to repair it and I paid $600 for it at thanksgiving for a Christmas gift. I already had to ship it back once for a crash and reinstall the system. My daughter has only had it for about a whole 3 weeks to use it. Walmart wouldnt accept it as a return as it was past 15 days. I refuse to shop there now and usually spend around $5,000 or more a year there.

If it is within warranty they have to take it back!
Dont pay them anything!

If it is out of warranty a cheap solution is an LCD from Ebay. (I dont think it will cost more than 200$)

Please make sure first that it is the LCD for sure because there is a small chance the LCD is fine and the problem is the BGA graphical chip on the Motherboard. To test it please plug to the external D-Sub VGA connector of the motherboard to a monitor at your Desktop PC or similar.

you could have accidently changed to external monitor with Fn +F(the number is 8 on my comp but could be 5 on yours-check keys on top of the keyboard it has a picture rectangle / little TV), anyways to check that attach external monitor to your laptop(must have a VGA cable) if you have a picture on external monitor try Fn + F(depends on what you have on ur keyboard) it should bring you a window with choices to choose laptop LCD or external LCD choose 1st one .
hope that is it.

Bluetooth device software

Not sure whether the Operating System in your Notebook is Vista or XP.

I am providing you the steps which can be performed in both windows XP and Vista one after the other. Try these steps according to the Operating System you have installed in your notebook :

Uninstalling and rienstalling Bluetooth Hardware drivers from your Notebook in Vista :

Click on the Start Menu and type Device Manager in the search field. Click on the Device manager link in the results.

The Device Manager opens in a seperate window.

In this, click on the [+] mark next to Bluetooth Radios to expand the tree.

Right click on any device which states 'HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth' and select Uninstall.

Restart the notebook once this process is done.

Cancell ro close any window which states New Hardware found.

Download the Bluetooth hardware drivers for Vista from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38167.exe

Save the file in the Notebook and double click once it is saved to install the drivers.

Uninstalling and rienstalling Bluetooth Hardware drivers from your Notebook in XP :

Right Click on My Computer and select Properties in the list.

Now go to Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.

Device Manager window opens in a seperate window.

Now click on the [+] mark next to Bluetooth Radios to expand the tree.
Right click on any device which states 'HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth' and select Uninstall.

Restart the notebook once this process is done.

Cancell ro close any window which states New Hardware found.

Download the Bluetooth hardware drivers for XP from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500/sp32315.exe

Save the file in the Notebook and double click once it is saved to install the drivers.

Additionally, perform Windows Update so that any updates available from Microsoft for that particular hardware device will be installed.

Hope this helps...

Where do I find my product key?

Nowadays Microsoft Office products comes as 60 days trial bundle with new laptops. Depends on the batch might contain or might not contain the product key in the package. However it will give you a link to activate online. Alternately you can go to trial download page. http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/default.aspx

If you think you have purchased full version bundle please contact HP. And also you can call Microsoft. We can give you guidelines but we are unable to provide any product key.

If you conclude your office product is trial and you dont want to use it nor purchase full version I can suggest you try open office which is totally free of charge and full version. you can download it at www.openoffice.org

Good Luck
