Question about Dryers

Hotpoint TDC62 condenser dryer does not heat up My hotpoint tdc62 does not heat up. I had it for approx. 5 yrs, have changed the thermostats(years) before, but have come up with a new (recent)problem. when on,the orange light comes on(heats up) then after a few minutes or whenever?...it cuts off? when you give it a little whack on the side it comes on? or if not it stays off? I,m totally baffled? Could it be the heater elements or a faulty relay??? Has anybody suffered with the same syptoms..any solutions, your help is most appreciated.

Thanks for your comment-it was well appreciated. upon even closer inspection I noticed that the problem was located on the circuit board. The relay above the big blue one- this has a short to it. Only solution, either purchase a 2nd hand circuit board or if you have the money-buy a brand new one or just buy a brand new dryer.

Hi,
I think the problem still lies with the thermal switches, they have a tendancy to corrode where the spade connector attaches to the body (see pic)
Hope this helps......DaveHotpoint TDC62 - 26db4bc.jpg

That trouble is cause by an heater that is already open- no connectivity. Also the wire connected to it.
I hope I answer your problem.

I have a hotpoint tdc62 when on it works fine apart from a grinding noise when the drum is going round could it be the belt? its 5 years old never been changed many thanks

More than likely worn rear drum bearing or worn front bearings.
Remove the rear panel, and you should see the drum shaft, check for wear here.

Hotpoint TDC62 condenser dryer does not heat up Hotpoint TDC62 drying light does not come on. It flashes briefly when you press the start button but then goes straight off. Why? If you tap the machine the...

Most likely, the orange relay switch (Schrack RT314024) on the circuit board of the dryness module (blue colour) is faulty. RS electrics and Farnell has it. Costs £2.50. Mine had the same problem and changing it sorted it. I also replaced all the four small electrolyte capacitors on the circuit board (which you don't have to replace - I am a bit fussy with capacitors).
Your thermostats and heating elements are good (don't change these).

Hotpoint condencer dryer TDC62

Several reasons for it not to heat.
Obviously faulty heater, and or thermostat(s). You need meter to test. Heater and stats are located at the rear of the m/c behind a removable panel.
Faulty programmer, faulty heater relay.
Check filters etc, refer to instructions for this.
Plz leave feed back on this .
Thanks.

Hotpoint Utima Logic Sensing Condenser TDC62

lewensc...this sounds like a classic timer issue. Before replacing it, first turn off your mains breakers and then back on. Check all wiring from the breaker panel to the unit. If okay, then have a quick look at the items in the dryer and test them using a multi tester. If nothing is amiss, replace the timer.
