You need to unlock your iphone before you use it with another carrier or in another country. You can either contact somebody who does unlocking or you can do it urself. First remove the simcard from the phone. Then go to www.blackra1n.com and download the one for windows. connect your iphone to the pc. when the itunes comes up, you can close it. one the blackra1n application is downloaded, you can run it as administrator. click on the button, make it rain. and wait for the phone to get restarted.
The problem is, for whatever reason, the new iPhone firmware does not allow special characters to be imported onto the new phone.
So the only solution is to: Get a different phone. Put your SIM card into that phone. Access your phone book from said phone. Delete any contact using characters other that A-Z. This includes !@#$%^&*() And the like.
Once deleted just pop your SIM card back into your iPhone and import. It should now work.
Thats because you dident save your contact on the simcard, you contactlist is on the phonememory.
Put the simacard back in your old phone and save your contactlin on the simcard, them move the simcard to your new phone..and viola! there they are!

hi the only one thing you can try without replacing the sim card reader is do you know when you put the simcard in if you push on the simcard with your finger so your pushing it down onto the contacts is fold up some paper so that it put pressure onto the simcard when you put the battery on as alot of times the contacts dont touch the sim card properly so putting some folded paper on top of sim card pushes it down onto the contacts properly. This solves the problem in most cases but it can be difficult to get right as if the paper isnt thick enough then it might not push it down hard enough to make contact. If after doing this it still dont work then this either means the sim cards no good but you could try it in another phone or it could be that the sim card reader is not connecting with the board properly and would need replacing. Make sure you check the contacts are clean on the sim card and the sim card reader to make sure this isnt problem. If you have not tried the sim card in a different phone then it could be the sim card is no good. Did this sim work in the phone before just in case the phone dont accept that network as you can get this message if this is the case.
Let me know how you get on and if you need further assistance ok
