Video display blinks or system freezes

I reinstalled Windows XP on my laptop and DL'd the latest drivers from IBM for everything to bring it back up to the most recent drivers after I had a hard drive problem. I replaced the drive with an 80 GB I had in a USB porta-drive which works without any problems. I had problems with the installation as the computer would not reboot after loading the files. It said several times that it was going to reboot but would not so I had to shut it down. I was finally able to load Windows back in and everything was fine for a day or so but I did not have time to reload the new drivers. The next day when I tried to boot up, the display started blinking and then coming up with odd characters all over the screen as well as white dots. The next time I tried to boot up it worked fine but then the screen froze after bringing up the Windows start screen and I could not log in. I tried an F8 start with "most recent settings" and the same thing happened. The next time it booted up, I got into the system and was able to bring up the desk top when it froze again before I could load the drivers. When the initial screens for boot up or setup comes up again, sometimes it will come up and at other times not. When the screen is blanked out and nothing comes up, I notice the caps lock light comes on. When I start to get a display before the blinking and freezing starts, it's off. I have not been able to get back into the system to try to reinstall XP or to load the new drivers which I have on another USB flash drive...I've tried to get it to boot to the CD but everything freezes again and the screen either comes up with random characters and freezes or stays blank. Any ideas?

My IBM thinkpad R50 does not recognise my wireless modem . The wireless router does not blink .Even fn +f5 is not displaying anything.

Some model ThinkPads have different network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.
When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it’s file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive.
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

Dell Inspiron 6000 monitor display problem

Well it is most likely a issue with the Video driver as you are able to boot to the safe mode.I would suggest going back to the safe mode and deleting the present driver for the video from the device manager.before you restart the system just download the latest version from the support.dell.com so that you can reinstall it.Also check in the graphic properties which screen is set to be the defuat.Incase still not working i would suggest reinstalling the operating system before replacing any hardware.

VGA port problem

That could be a video card driver issue. It seems that when the projector is connected, windows detects it a create another screen using up more memory. Try download a latest video card driver for your laptop http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/license.do?filename=mobiles/1rd635ww.exe this is for Windows 200/XP for the IBM Thinkpad T42. If that doesn't work then you should also try updating your operating system. Hope that helps!
