Most common failure is the spindle motor on the traverse deck. You can only try to contact other repair shops and ask what they would charge to replace the dvd/traverse deck.Part is common and available.Try another repair shop.

Unsupported format read cd dvd when it read if before?

Sometimes cleaning the disk will solve the problem. Also resetting the system by pulling the power cord and putting it back in can solve the problem. If this does not help, then sometimes updating the system with the latest software can help. Just call Bose and ask for an update disk. Last but not least if nothing works, send the unit to Bose for repair.

SYSTEM WILL NOT READ CD OR DVD

Sounds like the deck needs to be replaced. If you contact Bose, they will usually give you a flat fee quote for the repair.

For that buy lense cleaner disk from nearest computer shop then put that disk into cd/dvd rom then play it then it clean dust from lense then you can use it again .
But if still same issue then you need to replace your dvd lense .

It dosn't read the dvd

DVD/CD drive is bad.
As a general rule, the CD/DVD drive cleaning disks do nothing but attempt to scratch the lens by brushing off dust.

DVD won't play

had the same issue, Bose 18 played no problem for 2.5 years and then started acting up.
sometimes power reset helped sometimes not.
finaly go tired of it and took the system apart.
Inside is little customized toshiba dvd ide drive set as master.
Same as in normal computer but with different front so works in Bose.
Took apart DVD and cleaned with the laser lens with windex.
Works perfectly now.

I took the long run. If somebody has dentist mirror and some precise tools maybe you can reach the lens without taking everything apart.
maybe somebody sells special disc for cleaning lenses?

I hope this helps.

Ho2?I guess the unit is so thirsty,it forgot the right questions H20!!??Just kidding!
Always back to basic, put a CD music disc in first and see the it works? If not, don't bother to check your DVD,should return it or find an A/V repair guy to fix it!

First, try re-initializing the main unit: While stopped and ?DVD/CD? is the source, press and hold STOP (the small solid square on the unit AND [>10] on the remote control until ?Initialized? disappears from the television. Turn the unit off, unplug it, and turn it on again. Make sure that cd mode is off by Pressing [SHIFT]+[CD MODE] and try your DVD player again. (Make sure your discs are clean, and try several to make sure that is not the problem) Let us know how it works for you, and if we can help you in any other way. Best regards, nightdiver
