Tv won't power on red LED blinks 4 times

I have a 27" Philips Mangnavox Smart Series 25tr19c225. I plug it in, push power, and the red power light blinks 4 times silently, and otherwise nothing, no power, picture, sound, nothing. Can I fix this?

Clarification : Your set is a 25" ( 25 TR19 C 225 )......
1) In horiz drive circuit, check / replace bad 47mf / 25v capacitor

2)In same area, locate and replace bad transistors ....usually
a little over-heated in that area of PC board....look with magnifier
numbers are 327-25 = BC-328 and 337-25 = BC-338

3) Solder any / all bad connections...............................T.

If that doesn't fix it ,you probably have a vertical problem =

Solder vertical output IC to start and let me know..........T.

Hello there,

You can fix it "but" are you familiar on servicing such like a TV unit..

Have any experince to troubleshoot and service the board and make some solder on the part..

If "YES".
I got this one information regarding on your Query on the top.

I'll post and paste here the direction where you can find the problem was really like there:

SOLUTION:
The steady blinking light means there is no specific code.

This is from Sony authorized repair said the double-side board (the one lying flat/horizontal just to the right of the vertical power supply board which has the fuses) has a burnt transistor (the one with the sizable heat sink on it, at the back left corner when looking at the board from the rear of the TV). It is blowing the (non-power supply) fuse.

Enjoy..

Best regards,
-microman

HI,

Was there any recent power interruption or a thunderstorm recently in your area?

    Hi again,

    Copy your postback/reply.

As most current model of TV units, blinking red light is an indicator of internal fault as sensed by the built-in diagnostics. Some models/versions of Philips-Magnavox are prone to surges or interruption in the power as well as static discharges along the powerline caused by a near lighting strikes.

Let' try the easy one first. Pls try a reset on the unit by unplugging it from the mains for a couple of hours (preferably overnight). Thereafter give it a try. Pls try to check if your hear any faint clicking sound (relay) or smell any burning or electric arcing from the back.

Should problem persist, further diagnosis and repairs of course would require familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron plus access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram.

Should you feel comfortable doing a DIY, then pls post back.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    Good luck and kind regards.

    Thank you for using FixYa.

My magnavox tv model num 50mf231d137 will not turn on it turns on then turns off with red light blinking

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information google.com/+GopakumarGopalan

Can't find install code for philips magnavox smart series plus

Universal remote codes for Philips Magnavox TV are: 0062 0204 0207 0183 0226 0288
Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand

Philips lists 3 models of your TV:
1) 50PFP5332D/37
2) 50PFP5332D/37B
3) 50PFP5332D/37E

User Manual for your TV (actually for the 50PFP5332D/37E):
http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/5/50pfp5332d_37e/50pfp5332d_37e_dfu_aen.pdf
The user manual doesn't document the logic board blink codes for errors.

What this tells me is that the TV went thru two revisions before reaching version E.
in case it helps: Philips Customer Support: 1-888-PHILIPS.
If they can't help otherwise, they can at least tell you if your set is eligible for warranty service.

HI:
This is a plasma unit and philips plasma's are nortorious for bad power supplys, your problem may very well be the power suppy in the television, it is possible you blew a low B+ fuse on the power supply. There is also a issue with the Y-sustain board failing in this model, If you open the back and looking at the unit from the rear the y board is on the left side of the unit and the PS is in the center. disconnect the Y-sustain power plug from the power supply and turn on the unit if the unit stays on with no red light then the y board is bad. it does the same then replace the Power Supply.

On older Sony, sometimes a power surge causes the set to be in shut down mode. Try unplugging for 5 minutes and then plug in and try. This many times will fix.

No sound or picture just blinking green light

That sounds like a power supply Issue, Unless you have the full service INfo and proper equipment its best to call a repair tech for your model as an isolation transformer is needed to saefly diagnose the power supplies.

Sony KV-27S42 not on but timer flashes

The blinking light means almost 100% that the high voltage circuit has failed. Probably need a new horizontal output transistor and flyback. Perhaps an associated resistor or diode. If you have the expertise go for it, otherwise take it to a professional. In any case be extremely careful and safe. Good luck.
