Key pad (by 2 users)

We can receive faxes but none of the keys or buttons on the fax respond; if you try to punch in a number or hit the enter key or change a setting you press the key, and nothing happens. This is true for all of the keys and buttons. Any suggestions on what part might be broken?

I tried depressing each key (2-3 times) and they all did the same.
I took apart the keypad and cleaned the (2) ribbon cables and re-assemblied the keypad; still bad.
everything looks and sounds like it working but no response from any key.

It is common for one of the buttons to become stuck and no others will respond. Simply tap each button until that one becomes free and the buttons respond.

If this fails the keypad had failed and needs to be replaced.

A couple of things. Make sure none of your keys are stuck. One key being stuck will disable the keyboard. Carefully depress each key individually and see if one of them is responding differently.
If you want to try, and its not overly difficult, remove the keyboard and unplug and re connect every connector and ribbon cable you can find. Often one of them becomes loose or has a so so connection that can cause it not to respond.
