Oceanus OCW500la-1av hands won't work after battery...

I just changed my battery in my oceanus watch because it would not charge fully nor stay charged for long. I touched the 'ac' with a small wire for two seconds but it won't do anything but keep digital time...the hands won't move and the hands mode won't come up for me to set it manually. I'm usually quite electronically functional but I'm stuck.
