To set up this router you need to "Dial into" it. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser window. In the dialogue box that appears type the default user name [ admin ] and the default password [ password ] . Now that you are logged in, there is plenty of information on how to setup your connection. Always set your default IP to "obtain by DHCP". These setting will become easier to understand once you are in the router setup.

Can't set up security for Netgear 824

LOL you bought it, you get to figure out how it works.

I used a MAC for a day, and the owner had to tell me how everything works. If you can get to the internet, I imagine you can go to www.routerlogin.com and get access to the Netgear. The Wireless Settings tab on my Netgear brings up text sensitive help on making security and wireless work.

Netgear 624

to set upa network

http://lifehacker.com/software/wifi/geek-to-live-set-up-a-home-wireless-network-162754.php

there is no "earthnet" connection. it is an ethernet connection. it looks like a phone cable but has larger ends than a phone connector. the router is connected to the computer via an ethernet cable if it needs to be hardwired to a ethernet port or internal ethernet card. a wireless connection only needs to be an add-on internal card w/antenna or a usb connector hub (it looks like a usb flash memory stick)

here is how it's done. netgear has the same type setup.

NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Router

Is the smart setup (that is automatic setup) does not work, call your internet provider for the exact details (unless you have them) and do the manual setup.

Trying to hookup a wireless router to HP 1100

DSL uses PPOE, which may be different than what you had previously. Cable, for example, uses TCP/IP.
Re-set the router to defaults, and follow the instructions for PPOE, which should be in your manual or setup disk. Your ISP may have this info on their site, or you can get it at the Netgear site:
