My printer will not print even though the ink is supposedly still half full.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

I am getting an error and the printer will not print. The color ink lights are blinking but it is still half full.

There is a chip on your cartridge that communicates with the printer to estimate how much ink is left in the cartridge. When the chip thinks the cartridge is empty it will refuse to print any more pages no matter how much ink is left in the cartridge. These cartridges are only estimated to print "up to 840 4" x 6" photos, or 80 13" x 19" photos." If it showed half full yesterday and then you put through a large print job it is very likely the cartridge is empty. In any case once the chip thinks it's empty the cartridge needs to be replaced.

I replaced the ink cartridges even though the levels still said they were half full. It worked perfectly.

boil the head printer in a hot water for ten minutes and wiped it smoothly

Check the color profile settings for your printer. Also, make sure your not using any kind of draft mode. Are you using refilled cartridges or off-brand ink?

If is an original brand? Some generic cartridges or refill ones gave that problem.
