Canon doesnt have a spesific software or a driver for your device. It might not require one.

while haveing your camera disconnected open my computer.'
now plug in the camera. after windows had installed it.

you should see a new removeable storage device.
if you don't try pressing f5 to refresh.

Double click on the new driver, you might need to go throught a few folders but the picutres should be there.

Thanks, remember to review and good luck to you
If you need more assistance let me know.

If my suggestion doesnt work, i suggest you buy a card reader for your pc, costs around 10-30 usd. buy a model witch you can plug into a USB port. then you can browse, printer, save, copy. the pictures that you have taken with the camera.

hey, do vote fixya if I solved your problem :)

  • Ekse Mar 12, 2008

Since there is no driver for your device from canon.

Id suggest you go and buy a cardreader witch can read your memory card.

I checked the manual and the camera comes with a atleast 32MB memory card.

So this workaround would be the best thing to do.

Good luck, tell me if you need more assistance.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

How do i make my Canon PowerShot A580 Digital Camera plays downloaded videos from the internet? The camera says "Unidentified Images" when I place the images/videos.

I'm afraid that Isn't possible.
Cameras aren't portable media players; the built in software that cameras have can read only a very limited number of file types and configurations.
Usually a camera can read only what it had written to the memory; if you open a file on the camera and make even a minor modification using a computer, it will never read that file again.

My canon a580 no longer makes a noise when i turn it on or take a photo, how do i fix that?

If it's broke, I don't know. But here's how you change the settings. Press the display botton, then right to tools, then down to volume, then right, then select the sound you want and increase the volume.

I need the software to connect Power Shot A580 to computer

You can download drivers and software from the manufacturer's web site at

Software to download picture from Canon A580

You don't really need any additional software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Despite what I said first... There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

Canon Powershot A20 compatible with Vista?

Canon did not update their drivers for many of their cameras under the Vista OS. In order to download photos, you'll need to do the following. Sorry, but it's the only way:

Writing from pc to memory card in camera

Go with the obvious solution. The camera only lets the computer read the card and delete pictures. It does not let you write to the card.

Be aware that if you've edited the photos in any way (opening a photo in a photo editor and then saving it without making any changes counts as editing) then the camera may not display the picture.
