Question about Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 Player

Stuck on CREATIVE Screen

Haven't dropped the player or anything, battery was totally dead yesterday, hadn't been used in a while, plugged it in and it to USB and worked fine, the organizer popped up and could bring all songs up. Today, I can't turn it on at all, unless I take the battery out, then it starts and then just stops with Creative logo, can't turn it off, unless I take the battery out and the organized doesn't recognize that is plugged in. Any answers?

    I had the same problem.

This is what was on the Creative website

"Player Freezes at the Creative Logo

    Summary:

    • Corrupt data on a player can cause the player to lock up
    • Format the player to remove any files containing corrupt data
    • After formatting the player, re-transfer music back to the player

Step by step instructions for formatting a player

    1. Detach the player from the PC and power the unit off.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Move and hold the Power button switch towards the power icon.
    4. Re-insert the battery into the player.
    5. Release the Power button when the Recovery Mode appears.
    6. Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
    7. After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
    8. Re-transfer the tracks to the player. "

    Hope this helps.

SOURCE: creative zen micro doesn't show so I can transfer

1. remove all creative software from your pc (do this from start menu/settings/control panel/add or remove programs)
2. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Player 11 runtime. This will rollback the pc to an earlier version of WMP.
3. Download the latest version of the zen driver from this location:
http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP
4. Make sure the zen is not connected to the pc and install run the exe file to install the software on your pc. at some point, the install will tell you that the unit is not connected. Connect the unit to proceed. it will also notify you that you are replacing an existing software, or something to that effect. I accepted or said OK to this popup. Once the firmware is installed, my started to work fine. You can now reinstall WMP from microsoft website. Hope this works for you.

you might want to verify that your new player has the latest firmware available, as this might address the unresponsive-button issue you're having. Firmware updates are surprisingly easy - you just download the firmware file from Creative's website, plug in your player, and double-click the downloaded file. It's that easy.

Zen is dead

Sounds like a battery problem - either the battery is totally dead or just needs recharging - note that when the battery totally loses its charge, I believe it is sometimes not possible to recharge it using the usb port and software method (NOTE you MUST have the software installed and running for it to charge this way).. you may have to charge it using the connector to the power adapter.

unfortunately, the best solution is to send it back to creative for them to check it out. this sometimes happens when the player has been unused for too long and battery "under charges", which there is a solution.but seeing as u used it under normal conditions, that cant be the problem

Creative Zen V Plus

Simply let it sit and let the battery run out. When it's totally battery-dead, plug it back in and let it charge. It will be unfrozen when it's ready. You might also want to try sliding the off button down while you hit reset for a quicker version (doesn't always work)
