I've sorted it out thank you. I put some Kal Stop (5ml) into 1500ml of water into the Polti, let it heat up and it's broken down the limescale build-up on the solenoid. Hope this helps anyone else having a similar problem. Have a good day ;-)

You can purchase the Kal Stop from Polti. It's well worth the money. Mine came with 2 free phials.

I added a phial of KalStop which is biodegradable to 1000ml of water put it in the tank, turned on the appliance and let it come up to temperature. Then I operated the steam switch on the wand and voila after a few more spluttery spurts, it started producing steam again and even better than before. Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem and before throwing out the Polti or paying £79 to have the solenoid cleaned by the manufacturers.

Water coming out of the back of the dryer

When a dryer usually produces visable water from any part of it's self, the suggestion would be a completely restricted vent line. Such restrictions could be from nests from animals, excess lint, a dip in the vent hose causing lint and water to collect. Since the dryer is leaking water, it is heating and therefore creting steam in an effort to dry the cloths, with a clogged vent the steam has no where to escape to and thus condenses within the dryer and leaks out. The vent needs to be checked by a wualified vent servicing company from the back of the dryer to the point of exit of the home. Pleazer Appliance...

Steam coming out of the soap tray, seems to be washing extremely hotter than instructed.

A model number would be useful... But, be that as it may, there are several models that have a thermistor mounted along with the heating element. So, if you have one like that, you can change the heating element assembly and that will probably solve the problem. If not, look around for the thermistor that senses the temperature of the water.

Good luck!

Dryer wont heat

Hi Dale Banty - If the unit turns on but it is not producing any heat please have a professional diagnose the heating element and the blower assembly. Either part could be faulty at this time. This is not a typical DIY job so please consult a professional.

Lg steam washer 2yo 3 yrs old . Refresh cycle produces bribble of water rather than steam and leaves clothes wet

The steamer unit may be overfilling. Check the water valve and see if it leaking. If it's ok, you will need to replace the steamer unit. Good luck

Hotpoint WDD960 Washer Dryer - no error code but whenever I put it on a dry cycle it just spins as if working but without actually drying. Any suggestions?

Sounds like heating element is not coming on ..Heating first then with a Fan motor running and water flow the steam that is produced by the heaters are changed to water by the cold water over a condenser , the pump then puts his out to waste..

The machine fills with water during drying cycle and does not fill for the wash cycle

First, did you know that this machine steam dries clothes? The first thing it does on the dry cycle is to wet the clothes which it then heats to dry with condensation. There are better answers regarding this feature on fixya. But assuming that the dry cycle is working as well as it ever does, it appears that your wash cycle is not functioning properly. I would need more info to figure out why it is not filling with water / working at all.

No heat-Kenmore (Whirlpool) Elite He5 Steam 110.8775

Check that there is 240 volt at the plug as sometimes a breaker will be weak on one side and only produce 120 volts which will let the drum spin but produce no heat

Steam iron just spits water

Hiya .. your problem is more than likely to be one of two things
1. The element is overheating, which means the thermostat is not functioning as it should.. can you hear the thermostat Clicking? if so
2. No matter how soft your water area is.. there is always scale build up around and within the jets, try a good propietary descaler..... White vinegar is a good alternative.
Fill the iron with equal parts vinegar to water, and letting it steam until dry, rinse the tank with clean water, refill it and shake the water through the steam holes over a piece of newspaper/material... Test an old cloth before ironing on anything expensive. It should sort your prob ..... never advisable do this on a new iron as the acidity may damage the iron!
