Question about PC Desktops

My first computer, just learning. I keep getting (Internet Explorer cannot display the web page). I was able to print the screen I was on but, now the One Note screen keeps comming up and I cant print. When we first set up we inserted a disk from AOL for a free trial, I didnt like the service so I bought one month service from Volexprees. they told me to uninstall allof the AOL then put there disk in an follow dirrections. It said error 624: sysyem could not update phone book, Error setting home page. sometimes it says make sure path or internet address is correct. I dont know what I have done wrong. Only 30 days old and seems to get worse everyday. I cant use the e-mail in start up screen. We have dial up service. A screen pops up that I need to plug cable into network adapter Local Area connection, I dont know what that means. All the problems started after I tried to uninstall the AOL. I have read everything I could find in the problems and solutions. Today I went to the microsoft support that took me to the PC Mighty Max 2007 and it checked for problems, after it checked and told me I had lot of problems with invaled registory path and shell link shortcut I stopped and didnt select it to repair. I need to know what to do to get things back to normal. Please Help

If you are using windows,restore the system back to before you installed AOL,you can do this by

  • go to start button/all programs/acceseries/ system tools/system restore.
  • ensure "restore my computer to an earlier time" is selected,if not click on it
  • press next
  • you will have the opportunity to select what month & day to restore back to (only the bolded dates are available)
  • press next
  • and it will do what ever it needs to do.
  • it will reboot itself
  • should finish saying it was successfullly restored,if not
  • pick another date ,and do the same as above
  • then try again with Volexprees.

Internet shuts it self off


Whereas Internet Explorer is a very popular browser, you may have problems with it from time to time. Internet Explorer has been known to either randomly shut down or close pages. This can be extremely irritating, especially if you are in the middle of a project. Use these tips to fix Internet Explorer if it keeps closing Web pages.

Start by deleting your browsing history. Open Internet Explorer and click the "Safety" tab found in the top right corner of the Web browser. Then, choose the "Delete Browsing History" option. A box will appear on the computer screen. Make sure that there are checkmarks next to each option listed in the box. Click the "Delete" tab to delete the browsing history. Move to the next step if Internet Explorer keeps closing pages. Select the "Windows Update" option. You will be taken to the Windows Update Web page. Click the "Express" tab on that age. Windows Update will then check for any updates. Using the Personal computer to arrive into network requires turning on the device that would have a password to display the system windows. After the computer turns on though would have required a computer user password or possibly not, locate an internet explorer icon whether example; google, mossilla fox pro, chrome, netscape, internet explorer, are just network interface where network features would show up on. 2. clicking on the internet icon should require a password if built to require user pass before joining a network. 3. Running script error


Method 1: Disable script debugging loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); If the only sign of a problem is the error message, and Web sites are working, you can probably ignore the error. Also, if the problem only happens on one or two Web pages, it might be a problem with those pages. If you decide to ignore the errors, you can disable script debugging.

Note If this problem occurs on more than one or two sites, do not disable script debugging. Go to method 2 now.

To turn off the Scripting Debugger in Internet Explorer 6, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, click to select the Disable script debugging check box. and then click OK .
To turn off notification about every script error in Internet Explorer 7, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box, and then click OK.
Method 2: Test a Web page from another user account, another browser, and another computer loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); Use another user account, another browser, or another computer to view the Web pages that triggered a script error to determine whether the problem persists. If the script error persists, there may be a problem with the way the Web page is written. You can probably ignore the error and disable script debugging as described in method 1.

If the script error does not occur when you view the Web page from another user account, browser, or computer, the problem may be caused by files or by settings on your computer. Go to method 3 to continue to troubleshoot. Method 3: Verify that Active Scripting, ActiveX, and Java are not being blocked by Internet Explorer loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); Active scripting, ActiveX, and Java are all involved in shaping the way information displays on a Web page. If these are blocked on your computer, it may disrupt the display of the Web page. Reset the Internet Explorer security settings to make sure these are not blocked. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab.
  4. Click Default Level.
  5. Click OK.
Note ActiveX controls and Java programs are turned off at the High security level in Internet Explorer.

Try to open a Web page where you previously received a scripting error. If you do not receive the error, the issue is resolved. If the issue persists, go to Method 4. Method 4: Remove all the temporary Internet-related files loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); Every time that you open a browser to view a Web page, your computer stores a local copy of that Web page in a temporary file. If the size of the temporary Internet files folder becomes too large, some display problems may occur when you open Web pages. Periodically clearing the folder might help resolve the issue.

To remove all the temporary Internet-related files from your computer when you use Internet Explorer 6, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings.
  5. Click Delete Files, and then click OK.
  6. Click Delete Cookies, and then click OK.
  7. Under History, click Clear History, and then click Yes.
  8. Click OK.
To remove all the temporary Internet-related files from your computer when you use Internet Explorer 7, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Under Browsing History, click Delete, and when you are prompted, click Yes to confirm.
  5. In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files, and when you are prompted, click Yes to confirm.

  8. Click Close, and then click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
Try to open a Web page where you previously received a scripting error. If you do not receive the error, the issue is resolved. If the issue persists, go to method 5. Method 5: Install the latest service pack and software updates for Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7 loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); If you do not have the latest service pack or software upgrades for Internet Explorer 6 or 7, download and install them. They may contain updates that can help resolve the issue.

Just got my pc back from repair shop now out of nowhere i get a message from "content advisry" asking for a password tom view web page or to display web page


I would assume you are getting this from internet explorer. Open up internet explorer. Click on Tools>Internet Options>Content Set that to disable.

Internet Explorer cannot display the web page


Could be a vista compatibility problem.
check Linksys website for updated driver and or connection manager.

check that you still have permission in firewall.

remove the software of the usb wireless adapter,reboot ,then re install.

just a couple of thoughts
