Horizontal lines/missing print occurs on my pages. I have tried to reboot the printer, but the printing issues remain. Do I need to clean the print heads?

Follow these steps to make it work... TIP: Focus on the printer it self. make sure that it can copy (b&w and color) fine.
If your done reseting the printer go to the next step Solution #2 Clean the All-in-One and make a blank copy Before you begin, gather the following materials:
  • Several clean, soft, lint-free cloths
  • Mild glass cleaner
Step one: Clean the scanner glass and lid
  1. Press the power Button to turn off the product, and disconnect the power chord at the back of the printer.
  2. Open the scanner lid, and remove any originals from the scanner glass.
  3. Spray a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with mild glass cleaner.
  4. Wipe the scanner glass and the white underside of the scanner lid with the dampened cloth.
Step two: Clean the automatic document feeder ADF
  1. If the product is not already off, press the Power button to turn off the product, and disconnect the power cord from the product.
  2. Locate the ADF frame to the left of the white underside of the scanner lid.
  3. Press the ADF frame release.
  4. Unhook and remove the ADF frame.
  5. Lightly dampen a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with a mild glass cleaner.
  6. Use the dampened cloth to clean both sides of the transparent film, and the white strip in the center of the ADF frame.
  7. Clean the ADF frame.
  8. Re-Install the ADF Frame

Step three: Make a blank copy
  1. Remove any originals from the scanner glass.
  2. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  3. Press Start Copy Black to make a blank copy.
  • If the copy is clean, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the copy has vertical bands, lines, or streaks, there might be dust inside the product, poor internal connections, or the product might be damaged. Contact HP's Printers support department @ 1-800-474-6836

  • If the issue persists , see the next solution.
Solution two: Clean the All-in-One and print a blank copy If the scanner glass or the white underside of the lid has fingerprints, smudges, lint, dust, or other debris, this can slow performance and affect copy and scan quality. To resolve this issue, clean the All-in-One. Before you begin, gather the following materials:
  • Several clean, soft, lint-free cloths

Step one: Clean the scanner glass and lid

Step two: Make a blank copy
  1. Remove any originals from the scanner glass.
  2. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  3. Press Start Copy Black to make a blank copy.
If the copy is clean, there is no need to continue troubleshooting. If the copy has vertical bands, lines, or streaks, there might be dust inside the product, poor internal connections, or the product might be damaged. See the next solution. Solution three: Service the All-in-One If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. Causes
  • Static interference
  • Loose USB cable or power cord connection
  • Fingerprints, smudges, lint, or dust on the scanner glass
  • Dirt or debris on the scanner lid
  • Scratched or damaged scanner glass
  • Poor internal connections
  • Dirt or debris inside the product

My HP3030 scanner glass is dusty on the underside

Yes you can. Just be careful not to force any movement of the scanner lamp. Be gentle. Otherwise you have nothing to fear.

HP 6110 scanner glass is cloudy

Here is how, but it seems a lot of work.

- Remove all the torx-screws
- Remove the little glass on the left side
- Remove the Control Panel Cover (lifted it a little with a screwdriver and released two latches)
- Remove the Control Panel itself (another two latches&move to the left)
- The whole top of the 6110 is attached to the bottom with 4 latches. I remove that, turn it around and clean the glass.

Note: The cables between 6110-bottom and control panel/feeding unit are long enough to set those things aside.

Dirty glass inside scanner

To clean the glass on the inside you must disassemble the unit so that you have access to the underside of the glass. If you save all your screws and are careful to lay things out in the order you remove the it is easy to put it back together and you do not have to worry about breaking anything.
Once you have access to the underside of the glass I use real windex and newspaper. With the newspaper you get a streak free shine with no lint particles. If there is dust inside the glass there is most likely dust on the scanners optics. Gently clean them the same way. Be gentle when cleaning the scan bar optics. They are not extremely delicate but it will break if you apply too much pressure as it is a long thin piece of glass.
When you put your scanner all back together it will scan as good as new and all the little black specs and streaks will be gone in your scans. I've done this 100+ times and it works every time. If you need help feel free to contact me an I will walk you through it for free.
I hope you found this info detailed enough to fix your scanner yourself, But If you need some help or moral support feel free to E-mail me and I will even call you for free. Make sure to say what you need in your E-mail as I fix a lot of things for people.
