I want to install windows xp on my pc...

Windows XP insatallation process may take 30-45 minutes depending on your computer. Here is how to install windows XP in your computer.

Preparing for Installation

    1. Look for the Windows XP CD in the pack.Check the product key. Without it, the installation cannot take place. The product key is usually located on the Windows XP CD case.

    2. Make sure the computer hardware is well arranged. See that the monitor, keyboard, mouse and CD drive are properly connected.

    3. Confirm that you have the hardware drivers CD. You will need it for the communication between Windows XP and the components of your computer. This CD should have been provided by your computer vendor.

    Installing Windows XP

    1. Place the XP CD into your computer. Restart your computer. Press the spacebar as soon as you see "Press any key to boot from CD" on the screen.

    2. The setup has started when the keyboard, not the mouse, is operational. Press "Enter" when the Welcome to Setup page is displayed.

    3. Read the Windows XP Licensing Agreement that appears on the screen. Press F8 on the keyboard to accept the agreement. This step will select the hard drive to install Windows XP.

    4. Press "Enter" and you will see the default "Unpartitioned Space" on the screen. Push the up and down arrows and select "Format the partition using the NTFS file system."

    5. Wait for 30 minutes until the computer completes the formatting process. It will erase the hard disk drive and copy the setup files. Windows XP will now restart with your mouse working.

    6. Continue with the installation process. See the Regional and Language Options option and click "Next" to proceed if you prefer English. Otherwise, set the language by clicking on "Customize." Then click on "OK" and save the settings.

    7. View the Personalize Your Software page. Enter your name and organization's name. Click on "Next" to proceed. On the following page, see your product key, just as the one that appears on your Windows XP CD case. It is a unique 25-character key. Click the "Next" button.

    8. Fill in the required information on each page, such as date and time settings. Keep clicking "Next" to proceed to another page until you reach the Welcome to Microsoft Page. Accept the default setting when the page appears that has "Will this computer connect to the Internet directly, or through a network?" If you are connected through some network, select the option that describes your network connection.

    9. Click "Yes" in case you are connected to the Internet and the Ready to Activate Windows page is displayed. Click "Next" to continue. Click "Yes" when the Ready to Register with Microsoft page appears. Click "Next" again.

    10. Fill out the form on the Collecting Registration Information page. Enter the names of all the persons who will use the computer on the "Who will use this Computer" page.

    11. Click "Finish" on the Thank You page. This will complete the installation of Windows XP on your computer.
