LG 42PX3RVC Lost Picture

I was watching TV and I heard a pop and now I no longer have a picture but I have sound. My model is LG 42PX3RVC - I have read a few posts and they say I have a blown ysus board; can I replace myself; if so how? or is it best to get a qualified repairer to do it. If so can anyone recommend one in Sydney?

Hi there!
Ysus and Zsus Boards are normally sold as a kit(about 39 - 50 US$). If you think you are able to remember where all panels and screws are removed and replaced, then it would probably be cheaper to do yourself. On the other hand you may be throwing money after money if it is a power supply fault. I would start by checking the component which exploded and its location. That way you will know where to start. If in doubt rather refer to service technician. Please note: High Voltages are present so do unplug before inspecting or removing the cover. Also do not put the screen on its face, it may damage. Always in upright position. Good Luck, JUS004

While watch tv last night heard a crakle and we lost the picture on our samsung dpl tv. We got a new lamp and installed it. There is still no picture.

Sounds like the color wheel has shattered and the sensor is blocked by the peices. If the wheel was not blocked you would have a black and white picture.

Lg plasma power problem picture screen work 42px3rvc

one board can cost 150 to 350 dollars (ONLY one and only the part plus labor) problem really frequent one board or two board often blows. About if you can, the service process is kind of hard to drop the tv from the wall unscrew like tons of screws and finally to find the short circuit, buy the part (s) and install it (em). Hope not adjustment needed after works (commonly YES) and Hope the board doesn't blow again because another problem was there before.

You need to replace the lamp in this set. The "pop" you heard was the lamp popping.

This may be an easy problem to fix. If you heard a pop sound, it's possibly a burnt cap on the powersupply. Check caps C521, C522, C517 or any burnt caps on the RA-3 chassis. Obviously be careful when checking.
