What is the responsibility of jumper setting to mother board

When a jumper is placed over two or more jumper pins, an electrical connection is made between them, and the equipment is thus instructed to activate certain settings accordingly. For example, with older PC systems, CPU speed and voltage settings were often made by setting jumpers.

IDE channel fail to work. After some time, IDE DVD RW is not displayed either in windows, or BIOS!

First be sure that the IDE cable is firmly pushed into the socket on the mother board then Check that the DVD player is set on cable select on the back of the DVD burner, if the jumper is not set right the Computer won't see the drive. If this does not correct the problem make sure that your plugged into an IDE interface and not a raid Plug. If you plug it into a raid device then you must have the software installed and you have to set the jumpers on the back of the DVD player/burner. Do you have the correct Ribbon? hope this helps.

Mercury motherboard pi945gcm cmos setting dose not save shut down machine then power on machine see press f1 date & time not save

This sounds like your battery may be bad or not locked into place fully. Also on the mother board there is a cmos jumper that is used to clear your bios check to make sure the jumper is set correctly an also inspect the jumper to make sure it will make good contact to the jumper posts. Good luck I hope this helps. Also when you set the time in your bios make sure to exit with f 10 key or whatever the save and exit key is for you bios.

For all guys that have the same problem , the solution is:

2- turn on the PC with jumper in the same position ( pin 2 and 3)
3- the bios start in "recovery mode"
4- deselect the memory "aggressive mode"
5- save bios setting, then power off the PC
6- set bios jumper in position 1 and 2

Power up problems

To enter setup (Refering to the bios/cmos), press the Delete key very two seconds untill the bios main menu loads. You need to go to the menu heading - Boot.
If you added another hard drive to you're system the IDE (hard drive) it's jumper settings may not be correctly set. If there are now two IDE drives both the primary master & secondary drive's jumpers must be set correctly. You will ned to look at the white sticker on the drive for the correct jumper settings. Many primary IDE drives pin jumper is set as a single master drive with out a secondayr drive attached in the system. When you add a second drive the pin jumper one the master drive will most likely need to be changed to master with a slave. The second drive will also need it's jumper set as a slave drive. Once this has been adjusted you need to enter the bios & make sure you're primary master drive is set in the boot order. Most PC's boot order is as follows.
1st Boot device, floppy drive. (If one is connected to the system).
2nd boot device, CD-ROM drive.
3rd boot device, master IDE drive.
Please use the help of you're manual to guide you for these settings.
AOpen MX46L web site. http://download.aopen.com.tw/Default.aspx
You must set the three drop down menu's to get you're board's drivers & manual. In the first menu choose motherboard, in the second menu choose MX46L & in the last menu choose manual. For drivers, the third menu choose drivers.

Still heave more questions? Just ask.

No Boot (system does post) - Hard drives not detected • Check jumper settings on all IDE devices • Verify that IDE controller is configured correctly in the BIOS • Check to make sure that the drive is connected to the correct controller • Make sure drives are configured correctly for RAID • Verify Onchip IDE configuration for ICH5 SATA operation is set correctly • Test drives with different IDE/SATA cables
