The Key register is the COA (Certificate of Authenticity). In all likely hood you have a computer that came with MS Office trial edition, and the trial is expired. If this is the case you can purchase office at most retailers for about $150, or directly from MicroSoft for the same price. If this is not the case and you have purchased office, retype the COA in the blank provided and activate the software.

You can't. It is proprietary software from Microsoft and they guard it religiously. Borrow a CD from a friend who has the *exact* same edition you have and make a copy. Then if you need to re-install, the Certificate Of Authenticity Key number (COA) on the sticker on your computer should let you install. For desk top computers it is usually stuck to the side or back of the case. On laptops, it is on the bottom. That COA number is your proof that you paid for the operating system when you bought the machine. Even if you bought it used.
