I tried the above, yet it would not allow me to enter in the new date then time.

I have the same problem the user manual is hopeless and have a date of 14/3/01. Not sure if it can be changed or not.
Any help would be grateful.

All you have to do is:
Go to the main attendant phone, press Trans/Prog, then 0 for attendant, 4 for time and 1 for change time /date. Enter in the correct date and press OK, then enter in the correct time (in 24 hour format) and press OK. The time and date should now be correct!
