Problem with the printer drum?

Hi
When printing, I get faded text or images and actually these faded part appear in the rest part of the paper like the toner isn't transfered correctly to the paper and part of it remains on the drum. Is there any solution for this or should I just buy a new drum (though it hasn't reached not even the 1/8th of the expected life)

I have a similar problem with my 2430dl. Color prints fine, but black text is faded. I suspect that I have a bad drum, since I just replaced the drum a couple months ago.

Sounds like the toner isn't sticking to the paper.

Open the top cover of the printer. You will see two yellow felt stickers with a black triangle on them. On either side of those stickers you will see two gray or green tabs. If the tabs are sitting up pull them down towards you so you can see the picture of the envelope on top. Close the cover and try to print.

What could be the cause of a copy fading in the middle or a faded copy

Hi There, this depends on what make and model your machine is, in general, faded in the middle means that the charge roller or corona unit is dirty or the paper separation roller/grid, stop your machine while the paper is halfway through, then look at the toner image on the drum, if that is light also, then the problem is with charge roller/grid, if the image on the drum is nice and dark then the problem is with your image separation roller/grid.

When I print a document, there is a black line on the edge.

sounds like your imaging drum is getting old and in in need of replacement, is your machine a laser printer? seems to me most imaging drums are about a hundred bucks, and they have a finite lifespan. other indications are fading and dirty print / copy jobs. Run a copy, see if the line appears there too. I recommend you replace the imaging drum, if its older printer/copier and is in fact a laser machine with toner, not inkjet

Have you tried replacing the drum? That is the part that the toner cartridge actually sits in.

HI, I have a clp-300 and it is printing black only on the right side, but the left is completely washed out. it works fine when I use a color other than black

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. During the normal use of the printer, there is a buildup of toner that sticks on the developer blade. The developer blade meters the amount of toner that gets to the drum that ultimately makes it to the paper. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.

To fix this problem you will need to disassemble the imaging unit and clean the blades or buy a new imaging unit. I have clean my blades and I have a document to show you if you are handy.

Color problem!

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. It sounds like the magenta blade needs to be cleaned. Printer leaves black spots on paper

The black spots mean you either need a new imaging drum, transfer kit or fuser. You'll have to print some stuff and try to catch where the black marks are appearing. Try this method (it's called a Half-self test)

Load 2 -3 sheets of letter paper in tray one (manual feed) and remove paper from the rest of the trays.
From the information menu, request a demo page
The MOMENT the tail end of the paper disappears into the printer, open the right door. Open the front doors and release the levers for the imaging drum and the transfer drum. Carefully remove both pieces and examine your paper.

You should find the paper partway on the transfer belt but not in the fuser. If you see black marks here, start with the imaging drum. Open the shutter that covers the sea green shiny roller and look for marks on the drum (you'll see build up on the edges, that's normal, you should not see any scratches, pockmarks or toner on the center of the drum). If it looks clear, take a look at the transfer drum for marks or cuts on it's surface. (note: the transfer drum can be cleaned off with a dry lint free cloth, do not touch the shiny sea green roller of the image drum)

If everything looks good there, then likely the black marks are coming from the fuser. Let the printer sit, turned off for about half an hour to allow the fuser to cool. You can then remove the fuser and look at the rollers to see if there is any build up or damage there.

If you are not seeing any obvious issues with any of these parts, then start with the imaging drum. If you know that any of these parts have never been changed, then change them as they do have a limit to how many pages and how much time they can be used for.

OKI 5600 - Can you do a 'clean'?

Here's the 'secret' sevice manual: http://www.feedroller.com/Store/Service%20Manual/50_53_5600.PDF
I would also (very carefully) check for torn paper around the rollers of the imaging drum that might be rubbing the area.
