I had a similar problem, my printer was chewing the paper and then I was getting a jammed paper message. I looked inside but couldn't see much anything. I then removed (unscrewed) all the panels, and next I know, a culprit materialized, in other words, something fell inside the printer. I then managed to put it all back together, ended up with a few extra screws, but heck it works like a clockwork. God bless screwdrivers with magnetic tips, they made my life so easier.
(SMTP-SSL) Port is disabled. Consult your system admin.
I'll admit, this error had me puzzled the first few times I saw it, and I thought the problem was within the router, not in the Sharp printer. The first time I saw the error I worked around it and used an SMTP server that didn't require SSL. Since those servers are becoming more and more difficult to find lately, I decided to figure out why this error was being generated by my copiers. The solution was simpler that I originally thought it would be. It was in an area of the web interface that we technicians don't normally fumble around in, the security settings.
If you're getting the "(SMTP-SSL)Port is disabled. Consult your system admin." error, here is the quick fix. Before we get started you'll need to know the Sharp copier's IP address. I'll assume you already know how to get into the web GUI if you're setting up scan to email, but if you don't know the IP address of the copier you can print a NIC page with this information on it.
Here is a YouTube video(with my monotone voice-over) on how to run through the procedure described below:
1. From the Sharp's IP accessed web interface first login as an administrator by clicking Login at the top right corner. The default administrator password is "admin" by default.
2. Next, click Security Settings at the bottom of the left menu, then click Port Control underneath Security Settings.
3. Scroll down on the Port Control page to find the Client Port area, then look for the SMTP-SSL option, enable it, then click submit at the bottom of the page.
At this point you should be able to scan to email with an SMTP server that requires SSL. I'm not sure why this port setting is disabled from time to time, but at least it's a quick fix.
To verify your connection to the SMTP server click Network Settings on the left menu.
Scroll down to the SMTP section, and click Execute on the connection test. A popup will ask if you want to run the test with the displayed DNS servers, say OK, then you should have your successful reply.
In conclusion, this is a rare issue, but has a simple solution. If you'd like to lease a copier in Houston just request a quote or contact me. I'll get you fixed up quickly and I'll match or beat any price you've been given on a Sharp copier.
I believe the 77 function would have the information you're looking for, to access this function you'll have to go into maintenance mode.
To enter: Press OK then GO then OK when the machine is in a Ready state You should see 0 on the LCD
From here you use the up or down arrows to enter in the function code you want, in this case do 7 and 7. It should then print out a sheet with a lot of information on it including pages printed for each color.
Did this help? If so don't forget to leave me a positive review, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! :)
To change the region there is a special report to be printed from the printer from which some numbers are to be taken which belong to the printers firmware these numbers are to be given to HP they ll run an algorithm on it and then it can be regionalized... one printer can only change a region 3 times.... Try 1. Press Setup until Preferences appears, and then press OK. 2. Press until Set Language & Country/Region appears, and then press OK. You are prompted with a list of languages. You can scroll through the list of languages by pressing or . 3. Press OK on the appropriate language. 4. When prompted, press OK to select Yes or Cancel to select No. You are prompted with a list of countries/regions for the selected language. 5. Press to select the appropriate country/region, and then press OK. 6. When prompted, press to select Yes or No, and then press OK. You can confirm the language and country/region by printing a Self-Test Report, as follows: 1. Press Setup until Print Report appears, and then press OK. 2. Press until Self-Test Report appears, and then press OK Thanks.

I would try reinstalling the installation CD again making sure the printer is off until it prompts you. This time when you get to the part where you can select what components to install document the program names just in case you do have to manually uninstall later. Anyway reinstall and when prompted connect your printer. Also before you actually try to use the printer make sure you go to the HP site and download/apply any patches there may be. This should fix your error problem and give you a good idea which of the ancillary programs to uninstall if you later desire to do that.
