i know transfering files via bluetooth isnt supported but neither m4a nor mp3 files are playing on my phone. i have a lg envy...any suggestions? also is there any way to get the recorded sounds to play as the ringtone?

Sorry, it's not a generic problem. A lot of it is set up as options your wireless provider selected...go on and make an LG Envy question.
Of course it's all possible, but without speccing out the model in particular, nobody will tell you the easy way -or- the way unlocking the phone and uploading monitor software can provide.
