This could also be a power inverter on your screen.
You have to open the case of the laptop to do this repair.
You could damage the laptop beyond repair if you are not qualified to do this.
I have the same problem, I have Dell Adamo 13 with backlit keyboard, everything was working fine unti i had the technician replace the keyboard and motherboard, the "Q" button wasn't working. Now, i put the 3rd keyboard - same issue everything works except that the keyboard has no backlight. I installed new fresh Win7, than applied new Dell Factory Image to no avail. The only other things before it was working was that the motherboard was replaced and also I have noticed some of the cables from LCD display are kind of damaged. I think the Dell technician couldn't put it together and was forcing the hinges to snap in.
I'm getting new motherboard and LCD kit screen from Dell, if that won't work, I'm running out of ideas......
