The LCD is displaying 'Unable to Clean' and the Troubleshooting Guide suggests that there is something jamming the works.
I have carefully checked the machine [bit of a tech myself] and there is nothing to dislodge.
The Brother website suggests sending the unit for repair.
Does anyone know the procedure to reset these printers? Usually this involves holding down a sequence of keys whilst plugging in the power. The service agents do not share this as its a simple way to gain revenue.
Your help would be appreciated. Sending it for repair is out of the question as the value is only in the ink cartridges.

Hi Mix-it-up,
Your solution goes part way to solve the problem but I always end up with Machine Error 46 with all four buttons [Photo Capture, Copy, Fax, Scan] flashing green. Can you continue to offer possible solutions?
I was surprised to actually get a reply from Brother which also shows Error 46. Here is their solution which didn't help me but may be worth while for your database of solutions:
"Please do according to what we advise in the following:- Take
the power off on the back of machine ---> Holding down the Menu/Set
button (Don’t release) and take the power back in at the same time
---> Releasing Menu/Set button till MAITENANCE coming ---> Please
type "82" and see what will be happen from LCD ---> Please report
Error code or Error message to us If
Error "00" coming, please push Stop/Exit button to make the machine
into MAINTENANCE MODE. Please type "99" when Maintenance coming from
LCD. The machine will back to normal situation and report message
showing on LCD to us".
change unable, clean unable. Troubleshooteing says" check connections (I did) they are O.K. check for ripped paper (I did) no ripped paper

press menu then start bk-copy then fourtimes arrow-up.
machine will be in maintenance mode.
press 8 then 0 (zero) and then several times til PURGE 96xx (not sure about digits). press 2-7-8-3 and then 9 -9 to leave maintenance.
You have to replace the waistink absorber, too! Without changing you will seriously demamge the machine!
