The repair process probably didn't do the trick. Have you tried resetting the TCP/IPstack, applying winsock and/or crypto fixes?

The TCP/IP stack (netshell) can reset manually by simply going back and using the classic command prompt screen.

Hit the Windows Logo Key, if your keyboard has it, and then alternately press the R key.

Simply go to Start -> Run

Type in the given text field: cmd

Press Enter key or click OK/Run.

A black screen with a blinking cursor and some nifty white text should appear (should bring back some memories!). Go ahead and type in the following, EXACT:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Go ahead and press the Enter key when your finished typing this out.

It should just execute, and when complete, go ahead and exit out of the command prompt window. Finally, go ahead and if you haven't already, run the winsock fix (it supposedly does the netsh fix in this tool, but we did it just in case!), which can be downloaded on line through a simple google search. Then reboot your machine. See if this does it, if not, try the crypto fix. It usually works to machines that have a hard time updating through MS windows update website, but i've seen this fix work miracles for networking issues.

If all else fails I would try three things...

1) Re-install the LATEST driver for your network card. If nothing happens STILL, pop another one in a PCI expansion slot, and see if this is detected and installed properly by windows XP. It's preferable you use a standard PCI 10/100 Intel PRO LAN card or something by Linksys, since Windows should have stable generic drivers for most of these cards. If you can see the expansion card in network connections as a Local Area Connection, I would say that your integrated LAN MIGHT be defective, but I doubt this.

2) Do a complete OS restore. This means basically to back up all your data that you absolutely need, and perform a full Windows XP installation from scratch. Boot to the CD, make sure you format your hard drive, use the full format if you want to write zeroes to the drive, guaranteeing that all your previous data will be gone, and then reinstall XP through the Windows XP setup screen. Sometimes these windows repair sessions don't do the trick... they copy over usually just the essentials, like DLLs, popular EXE files, etc.

3) Apply or Reinstall Windows XP Service Pack 2. This usually fixes errors such as corrupted Windows Firewall/Security Center, and it may fix your network connections service. IDK which service it is in Windows XP, i think its the Network Connections service? Go ahead and check to see if its running, or if its even there (think administrative tools in control panel).

Still want more help? PM me or just re-post with your progress, and good luck!!

Nokia 6600 mp3 problem

Full phone formatting on a 6600!

If you encounter situation like below on your 6600,
1. Blank screen phone unable to reboot.
2. Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.
3. Install some program but not able to uninstall it after that.
4. Error messages such as "Child Installer" keeps popping-up.

Do a Full phone formatting on your 6600! as steps below,

1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.

2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.

3. Switch-off your 6600 phone.

4. Press and hold 3 keys;

Green dial key, * (star key) & no. 3 key and then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.

Remember, do not let go all of the keys and hold keys until you see a formatting word screen show!

5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your 6600 will back to original system and factory settting.

All apps installed & not of the phones' default will be lost. If you did a backup on your mmc, you can restore it back to the C drive again.
