Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Drum noise I have a Kleenmaid KFL1500 washing machine which is just over 5 years old. So far it has been working ok until recently it developed a noise while going through the spinning cycle. It sounds like the drum is knocking on the inside walls of the machine. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Good day.
Maybe there are coins left in the pockets that stucked within the drum during drain process. You can also check the bearing holder of your washing machine for this is also one of the reasons why noises occur during oepration

Check the motor control board for dry joints, poor contact, signs of excessive heat around plugs/pins
I would try new brushes again or thoroughly inspect whether they are contacting the commutator.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Sounds loike the main drum bearings have failed.
Spin the drum by hand from the front, and if it feels rough, or is rumbling or grating, then the main bearigs have failed.
Quite an expensive repair, unless it is covered by the Hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee, check with Hotpoint.

The washer works as far as washing the clothes but makes a terrible noise when spinning.

If the machine is a few years old it could mean that the rear seal has worn and allowed water into the spin bearings. If the drum feels loose, it means ther'es free play in the bearings as well. Not good news..It's a major job and will need a wokshop...........Nomess

Drum filling with water

An obstruction in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off You can easily open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!! Good luck !

Noisy

usually a noisy machine means either the main bearings have gone or the motor has got damaged/worn in some way. to check the main bearings try lifting the drum with the hand from inside or rotate the drum with the hand to see if the rumble can be felt. i cannot think what else would cause a loud humming though.

"howling" noise during spin cycle (still there after changing burned off belt)

Travioso, there was two service flashes out on this model concerning the seal and bearing which means they had an issue with this washer. The howling noise you are hearing is the bearing and will need the new designed triple seal and bearing kit. This should be covered under your warranty, I believe it is 5 years. The numbers for the service flashes are TDL-0048A-B. Call Maytag and inquire about these service flashes, these should be covered. Catriver.

How much play in rear pulley

Scott, the pulley should be tight, no play, Check to see if one of spokes are cracked on the pulley. I do believe that you have a 5 year warranty on the bearings on this machine, parts only. It's a huge job to replace the bearings on this model. Give Sears a call to see if they will cover the parts. You will need the rear tub and bearing kit...Good luck
