The screen isn't cracked it is the black plastic around the television how do you know if the tube is broke would it have a white line when you turn it on?
I was really just wondering if it was worth taking it in to the shop??

If it has a white line across the middle then it is probably repairable.
If the screen was cracked it could, but probably wouldn't work at all, not even a white line. The white line indicates that the vertical deflection IC has failed. Generally these IC are inexpensive and should only take an hour, if that, to replace. A good technitian should be able to repair it at a reasonable cost as well as check it over for other common problem areas.
