I have an audiobook on m240. I want to listen to it in sections like i
did on my m230. Now every time i try to hold the place and shut it off
it resets to the beginning. The weird thing is that it shows the place
on the screen but it starts at the beginning. I have tried every way to
pause it, shutting it down, nothing seems to work.

The Sansa won't. You have to exercise a little care when you rip multi-disk audiobooks from CD to your hard drive. The scheme I use is to put a disk number at the beginning of the title (so I don't have to scroll to the end to see it). Then I just listen to the audiobook one disk at a time. I don't mind having to pause once an hour or so to go on to the next disk.
Go ahead and hook your mp3 player up to the PC and hit the sync tab in Windows Media Player. Disconnect it safely and try playing one more time. If that fails, remove the audiobooks completely from the Sansa and reload them.
You might also want to double-check Sansa's website - it seems that one of their firmware upgrades related to Audiobook play.
Go to "http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/voxrightnow.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2559" To update the firmware of the M42xx mp3 player click hereand download the firmware. start the firmware and when it is runninplug the M42xx in at the same time holding down the PLAY BUTTON(center) until a white screen with a small computer with a line goingto your M42xx is displayed and then release the PLAY button. You canthen click on start and the firmware update will complete,,, DO NOTDISCONNECT DURING THIS UPDATE... it may take 2 times to complete thisbut it will work.... YEA!!!! WORKS with 2, 4 or 8 GB Models.....

I've had my MuVo V100 for a year and can tell you it only saves the bookmark for the last file played. Hence, if you're into a long audiobook, don't switch to another. I've taken to making note of where I am because if the battery dies while playing it will also go back to the last saved bookmark.
TIP: if you accidentally switch away from a book you're listening to, pull the battery BEFORE turning it off -- it will revert to your last bookmark.
