SATA doesn't use the Master/Slave scheme like PATA. You simply plug it in.

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Check power connector of hard disc is in correct socket. Check if there is 5V and 12V in power connector.Try to replace SATA cable of your hard drive. If your hard drive is still not appear on your computer try to determine if your motherboard is already installed the sata software of your motherboard.

Being SATA and within the limitds of the MB, the HD WD Caviar will works fine

you might consider yourself buying a SATA card to support your 16mb cache SATA HDD.

Your motherboard's chipset cannot handle these new versions of SATA HDDs.

Hi this hard drive will work with your laptop all it needs to be is to have a SATA connection cable

2.5 inch = laptop
3.5 inch = Computer
