Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Whirlpool washer i just purchased a used whirlpool washer. I was present when it was used at the house and it worked great and quiet. We transported it to our house in a suv on its side I was told by appliance stores this would be okay for an hour. once home plugged it in attached hoses and drain and the machine is so loud on spin it sounds like it is going to blow up did i brake it by transporting it on its side thanks

Im going to assume its a front loader. try opening the access panel by removing 3 screws along bottom front of unit. give a look inside, there should be 4 suspension/shock absorbers holding drum form shifting. If disconnected the just "snap"into place with quarter turn into holder.while under there the pump is located right there in front, open the "button trap" front of pump see if perhaps theres something inside pump housing making noise

Wirpool stylemaster907675A got it from my mom she said worked great, first load the water will not turn off, keeps running out the overflow and onto the floor

Hello,
That sound like one of a couple things, espically if it got moved from yoiur Mom's house to yours check firstly if the hose circled in red on this picture accidently got pulled off in transport.oldtech2332_1.jpg
If that is ok the water inlet valve where the rubber fil hoses attach that attatch to the blue thing on the back of washer is sticking open.IF that hose in the picture is in place its probaly that water inlet valve and it would be replaced.The part # for that is 285805 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
searspartsdirect.com
repairclinic.com
apwagner.com
appliancepartspros.com
apdepot.com

This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puq8jWMY9Iw will show you how to take apart the washer to check that hose or replace the water inlet valve which ever it turns out to be.

I am looking to buy a used 4 year whirlpool duet washer and dryer. Do you need transport bolts to move either? Also what capacity is the washer and dryer

The transport bolts are required to be installed before transporting the machines. This is to support the suspension system to prevent damage to the machines during transportation.

The washer has a capacity of 9.0 kg or 19.8 lbs with a volume of 3.7 cubic feet. The dryer's capacity is 7.0 cubic feet.

During the final spin cycle, our front loading whirlpool is making a really loud noise - it sounds like a train is going through the house. It is in the basement on a concrete floor.

If the washer is brand new, look on the back panel and make sure the 4 transportation bolts have been removed. The bolts should be roemoved completely - they are only necessary to protect the washer during transportation.

If the bolts are removed, adjust the front two legs to be 1/4 inch higher than the back two. That 1/4 inch will balance the washer during the spin cycle, perfectly.
