GE Simon says that the smoke alarm has a low battery. Replaced the batteries, and still receive the same alert. ???

    1. I double checked the battery orientation.

    2. The battries are rated at 3 volts and measure 3.11 and 3.12 volts.

    3. I used the same lithium batteries as the OEM batteries.

The detector was installed in 2007.

    The model is NX491NT-60-848-02-95

Immediately on the control panel. Within a week for the chirping to begin.

I know some of this sounds obvious but the problem is usally related to 1 of 3 things.

1 Battery oreintation is wrong
2 Replacement batteries were old and were already below the low battery threshold (1.35 volts per battery/ 2.7 volts combined)
3 Didn't use the correct battery - manufacturer recommends lithium batteries (quality alkilines will work but they will have a shorter life)

Beyond this I will need more information to diagnose the issue.

Okay, so we tried the easy stuff. Can you supply a little more information?

    How old is the detector?

What is the exact model number?

How long after you put in the replacement batteries did get the low battery signal?

I have a similar problem I replaced the batteries in mine and about 24 hours latter it starts to chirp I hold the reset test button for 4 seconds and it quits until another 20 or so hours come up again and starts to chirp again.

Had customer with CO detector sounding quick double chirp about every five minutes. What is this?

This is not a beeping smoke detector. It is probably a CO detector that was installed by your alarm company. GE model 240-COE will give a double beep every 5.5 minutes when the device reaches end of life. Call your alarm company to have it replaced.

> Since power ws restored, I hav a low battery alarm for about 3 days.
The charge circuit probably only supplies a tiny charge current to prevent overcharging of the main battery and I suspect the original is a NiCad and has likely lost a cell or two (shorted; it's common with them) over that fairly long period.
Replacing it with either Lithium Ion or NiMh rechargeables with a honest voltage rating (*some aren't) is a good move; neither of these are as prone to failure as NiCad is. Don't be surprised if you still have a 'low battery' alert for several days since these batteries rarely have a full charge when shipped.
*So-called '9V' block batteries are, except for rare batteries, actually 8.4 or even only 7.2 volts. I have some instruments that indicate 'Low battery' with either of these even when fully charged.

Ge simon 2 alarm no longer beeps after battery replaced

Probably knocked off the clip on the piezo. Open the box and make sure all plugs are plugged into the circuit board.

Low Battery warning on Simon 3 even when I changed it out

temperature affects batteries. if the batteries on the window sensors have been in use for some time it is probably time to change them. Alarm batteries are only expected to last 3 to 5 years with moderate use. If you have close neighbors or live in an apartment complex then false reads could be a factor.

GE Simon 3 low battery warning: Newer battery has 6.54V?

Read the battery voltage with the system on but with the ac power disconnected. I always suspect the battery from experience. Battery needs to be replaced every few years normally(but can vary).

Smoke alarm beeping

If after replacing the battery the alarm is still beeping, the smoke alarm is bad and needs to be replaced. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck!
