Question about Samsung PCL6215R 62" Rear Projection Television

Convergence problem then no power up after replacement

I had a convergence problem that couldn't be fixed through the menus. Scanning the internet suggested to me the convergence chips (stk392-040) were bad. I replaced them. I used a multimeter to check all my solder points, and the only bridged ones are the ones bridged by the board - not me. Now when I power the tv up the power light flashes a few times then goes blank. No picture, no sound.

I checked the board again closely to see if I damaged anything else during the repairs. Two chips are melted; RR402S and RR471S. They are apparently variable resistors in the convergence circuit. I never looked closely enough to see if they were like that before the initial repairs.

I want to think that if I replace those everything will work fine since it seems like replacing them is cheap and easy. However, it doesn't seem right that the tv got worse with new working convergence chips, (although each time I turned the tv on when it had convergence issues it seemed to get worse). I don't want to waste more time if the problem lies elsewhere and I can't fix it myself.

Thanks in advance guys.

Thanks. I forgot to post that I had fixed it. I replaced the melted trimpots since they were only a couple bucks. After putting it back together it worked, but I got resistance readings across the leads of those "broken" potentiometers, so they should have been working. I guess I could have had a wire seated improperly the first time I put it all back together like you said.

Thanks. I should have closed this problem or posted that I fixed it a while back. I replaced the melted trimpots before testing them, since they were only a couple bucks. After putting it back together it worked fine. When checking the "broken" potentiometers for fun I actually got resistance readings across the leads, so I guess they were working fine. I probably didn't have everything plugged in properly the first time I put it all back together like you said.

Check to ne absolutely certain that all the wires are plugged back in correctly, also if the wires are correct check the resistors near the convergence ICs one or two of them are likely open as well.

Can't converge red on the edges

Depending on the actual model number the set uses either one or two convergence chips and both would now have to be replaced.

Set as you know has convergence mode in customer menu and another in one of three hidden menus.

Hi, I couldn't use convergence for blue color, there is no blue cover bar moving at all. And the screen is yellow tinted. I an thinking i need to replace the blue picture tube. Please help.

Its more likely that the convergence ICs have failed which is causing the blue not to be adjustable. The PT47WX52 convergence repair kit works for your model as well and is available from www.tvrepairworld.com the kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

55 inch mitsubishi rear projection tv red lamp out of adjustment

Have convergence IC's replaced. I believe this unit uses STK-392-570 convergence IC's Only one has gone bad but replace them both, because if one has failed then the other is not far behind, for Blue and Green. One handles Red, One handles BLUE and Grn. There are only two of them in the set, They are the two largest IC's in the entire set.

I have a vertical line in my rear projection TV - Akai PT4298HD

looks like you have a problem with the crt itself poss a fractured shadowmask the convergance system only changes the magnetic field in the scan coils to realign the cathode guns to keep the scanning in line . coincidental i think, a new crt is favorite hope this helps

Convergence problems, can't find any access to adjust via menus.

NO !! You can't adjust that out. You have a convergence failure. You need to take it to a shop. You won't be able to fix it yourself. The more you adjust it the more ANY shop is going to charge you to fix it. Let me know how it turns out.

Colors Misalinged

You have what is known as covergence problems. Ok to begin with. 1 Go into customer menus goto SETUP do you have the "CONVERGENCE" option. If you do not the the likelyhood is you have the fl231 fuse problem and if you can solder and get it i recomend it a simple repair. ok if you have that option then try going in and autoconvergening if that didnt work try manual the red and blue convergence. if in the manual red and blue the crosshair didnt move then you probably have convergence power board problem if only one moved or just move a up and down or left of right then it might be a amp board issue. the other problems it could need a simple factory alignment.
