Question about Samsung PCL6215R 62" Rear Projection Television
I had a convergence problem that couldn't be fixed through the menus. Scanning the internet suggested to me the convergence chips (stk392-040) were bad. I replaced them. I used a multimeter to check all my solder points, and the only bridged ones are the ones bridged by the board - not me. Now when I power the tv up the power light flashes a few times then goes blank. No picture, no sound.
I checked the board again closely to see if I damaged anything else during the repairs. Two chips are melted; RR402S and RR471S. They are apparently variable resistors in the convergence circuit. I never looked closely enough to see if they were like that before the initial repairs.
I want to think that if I replace those everything will work fine since it seems like replacing them is cheap and easy. However, it doesn't seem right that the tv got worse with new working convergence chips, (although each time I turned the tv on when it had convergence issues it seemed to get worse). I don't want to waste more time if the problem lies elsewhere and I can't fix it myself.
Thanks in advance guys.
Check to ne absolutely certain that all the wires are plugged back in correctly, also if the wires are correct check the resistors near the convergence ICs one or two of them are likely open as well.
