Hello Keith,
The present Motherboard in your computer is Asus A8AE-LE. It has a lot of upgradign options.

It will support the Following CPUs.
Up to AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+
Up to AMD Athlon64 4000+
Up to AMD Sempron 3200+

Also, it has the following memory specifiations.
Memory Installed 1 GB (2 x 512)
Maximum allowed 4 GB* (4 x 1 GB) requires the replacement of the installed 512 MB DIMMs
Speed supported PC-3200 MB/sec
Type 184 pin, DDR SDRAM
DIMM slots Four
Open DIMM slots Two

And the PC has a PCI Express x16 slot you can install a high end Video Card along with a power supply upgrade.

So before you go ahead with replacing the motherboard I would recommend you to consider these options as we can cut down the cost to a greater extend and having the same iprovement on performance.

If you wish to upgrade the motherboard you can use any motherboard having ATX form factor [9.6 in X 9.6 in] in the computer. The CPUs should be selected according to the motherboard you have chosen.
Hope this helps
Pat

Cpu upgrade

A) http://www.fixya.com/support/t18040647-cpu_upgrade

B) http://www.fixya.com/support/t18040647-cpu_upgrade

(Last time I looked, this was the world's largest product support website, and there ARE technicians from AROUND the world; on here!!!!!!!! Do we count as an 'IT techie'? ........Lol!)

In all three of your posts, not once has the laptop manufacturer name, and model number been stated.

Processor (CPU) support depends on;

A) What processor socket is on the motherboard?

B) What motherboard chipset does the motherboard use?

C) What is the processor that is installed now?

With these parameters known, THEN you can think about CPU (Processor) upgrade.

1) CPU (Processor) has to FIT, the processor socket being used.
THIS, is also IF the motherboard HAS a processor socket; and is NOT soldered directly to the motherboard.

2) The motherboard chipset supports the Processor (CPU)
It has to be known if the motherboard chipset will support, the CPU (Processor) that you want to upgrade to.

For older computers the motherboard chipset consists of;
A) Northbridge chip
2) Southbridge chip

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

With this technology the Northbridge chip, of the motherboard chipset; is what determines Processor (CPU) support.
Newer technology, such as used per se by the Intel Core i processors, does NOT use a Northbridge chip.

3) Looking at the existing Processor now, you can determine;

A) Voltage Range: What voltage range does the exisiting Processor use now?
Does the upgrade Processor also fall within this Voltage Range?

B) Core technology, and architecture:
Example:
Existing Processor uses the Conroe Core technology, and the 90nm architecture. (NanoMeter)
Does the upgrade Processor also use the same Core technology, and architecture?

If not is there a BIOS upgrade available?
(The motherboard chipset also comes into play again, here)

Enough of this generic prattle.........
Post the laptop manufacturer name, and model number.
Then I, or someone else can give you the facts; and not generic information.

Post back in a Comment.

I want to upgrade my CPU capacity from 1.2 GHZ and want to know my motherboard so much support??? my motherboard is GA-8IDX (845 chipset)

If you go to CPU-Upgrade.com, you can see all of the different processors that are compatible with your motherboard:

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-8IDX.html

The ones highlighted in pink are not supported for your motherboard, the ones highlighted in orange may or may not be, and all the ones in white are compatible with your motherboard. It looks like you have several high-end options, up to 2.8 GHz.

I don't have a problem. I just need to know what kind of motherboard my PC has. its a HP Pavilion dv7.1135nr . thank you

I am guessing you are asking because you want to upgrade it?

If not, download this free program, and it will tell you all the info you want to know about your computer: CPU-Z here: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Okay, well you have an AMD based DV7,
The 780G chipset is among the latest from AMD. That chipset supports the Turion ultra processors.
Your system may be running slow because your cpu is running at 500MHz instead of 2Ghz.
You can upgrade your processor to any RM/ZM/QL turion processor.

The processor in your system is socket S1
Your current cpu is a RM-70, 2.0Ghz dual core, 1mb L2, and 31 watt TDP
The RM-74 would be an upgrade to 2.2Ghz dual core, 1mb L2, and 35 watt TDP
However your best upgrade at the moment is the ZM-86,
The ZM-86 is 2.4Ghz Dual core, 2mb L2, and 35 watt TDP

The ZM processors are going for around $200 on ebay
I do not think the 400MHz upgrade is going to be worth $200.

I want to upgrade my hpdv1000 pentium M processor whats the maximum upgrade allowed for this? i have upgraded it to 2gb ram from 512mb and 250gb hd from 60gb and its doin fine.

You should be able to upgrade the CPU, since it seems that the DV1000's motherboard uses a socket CPU design. But, obviously, HP would rather have you choose the CPU that you want from the beginning and stick with it.
The first thing to do is to check HP website to see what other configurations were/are sold for your model. If they sell it with faster CPUs then you can upgrade to one of them...

PLEASE NOTE:
In order for a particular processor to be compatible with a particular laptop:
(1) the processor must be physically compatible with the laptop socket, in your case I thing you have a Soket 479 processor
(2) the laptop chipset must support the processor.
(3) the chipset front side bus speed must match the processor front side bus speed, in your case 400Mhz.
(4) the laptop BIOS must support the processor.

So I listed here processors with FSB at 400Mhz, I gues that DV1000 as a 855GM Motherboard that supports only 400Mhz with Socket 479

Upgrading System.

http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=28994 hello, i would replace the 1.8g cpu- go 2.2 or higher, then do another gig of memory. this will make it very fast. compared to now. check e-bay for cpu deals.(as these cpu's are still a little costly new) i got one-as an upgrade for my intel 2.6 965 chipset a few months ago, now at 3.2g. nice upgrade no problems. i hope this helps you, good luck! if you need help post again.

I have 2.6 celeron processor with intel 865 motherboard i am up grade tell us who is processor best

on mb with intel 865 the bigest CPU is pentium 4 @ 3GHz. socket 478
however your MB might require to update microcode for the new CPU.
one more thing: this chipset Intel 865 is obsolete, and intel does not manufacture this cpu type anymore.
