Very slow and I keep getting the white screen about restoring active desktop. Then it won't let me restore.

You will need to try reloading the operating system of the computer, this is on the recovery disks you should have made when you first bought the laptop. If you do not have the disks contact the manufacturers support site for details on ordering the recovery disks

My lenove laptop shut down and will not reboot

Turn on your system, then start tapping the F8 function key several times during the boot period. You should get a short text menu.
If you can get that far, choose 'Safe mode' which will load only the minimum of drivers and this will often allow you to examine the system for problems.
Your Desktop won't look as accustomed since it will be shown at the lowest video resolution and this will make the icons must larger and more crude but this is normal.
You didn't mention which version of MS Windows you have installed so continuing from that point is not the same for each but you should have a late enough version to have Restore available.
- Click on 'Start.'- Then choose 'All programs.'- Look for and click on 'System Recovery.' - On that short menu, click on 'System Recovery.'
Continue from there and if the Restore tracking has been active (it is by default), you should have several earlier dates to choose from.Select one of these to try to achieve a file condition that will allow you to reboot to a healthy system again.

The web cam does not work at all on either the quick viiew software although we have downloaded the driver it is not found

Activating the webcam
The drivers for the webcam are pre-installed and an HP Webcam 1000 icon displays on the desktop. Double-click on the icon to activate the webcam. The blue light illuminated next to the webcam lens, just above the LCD screen, indicates the webcam is on.

If double-clicking on the icon does not activate the webcam, do the following activities:

Click Start, then right-click on My Computer, and then select Properties.

On the My Computer properties window, click on the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Click on the plus ( +) sign next to Imaging Devices and locate the webcam item in the device list.
If the webcam is not listed, do the following activities to install the driver using the webcam driver recovery.
Click Start, click All Programs, click PC Help & Tools, and then click HP Application Recovery.
Select Driver installation and click Next.
Select the HP Webcam 1000 driver from the list, and click Install.
If the webcam is listed under Imaging Devices but there is a red X on the icon, the webcam is disabled. See figure below.
Figure 1: Disabled Webcam Icon

To enable the webcam, right-click the HP WebCam 1000 icon and click Enable. The webcam icon should display on the Desktop.
Alternate locations for the webcam icon
If the webcam is installed but the icon is not displayed on the desktop, look for the webcam icon in one of these alternate locations.
Click Start, and click My Computer. The webcam icon should be displayed with the other devices. See figure below.
Click Start, and click Control Panel , and then click Scanners and Cameras. The webcam icon should be displayed with the other devices.
The HP Webcam 1000 does not install a listing under any of the All Programs menu.
Using the Webcam Diagnostic Test
To ensure the webcam is operating, do the following activities:
Right-click on the WebCam icon, and then select Properties.
Click on Test Camera under Diagnostics on the General tab.
The test should only take a few moments, but allow the test to complete operations by itself.
The result of the test, either “passed” or “failed”, will be displayed.

I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 and i dont know how to open webcam.

I have an HP Laptop with the webcam. Here is info on it.

There should be an icon on the desktop that you can double click to activate it. Then if it is activated the blue light will go on next to the webcam. If there is no icon do the following:

If the webcam icon is not on the desktop, click Start , click All Programs , select HP Pavilion Webcam to open the webcam from the Windows Start menu.
    • Select HP Pavilion Webcam Demo for a demonstration of the features.
    • Select HP Pavilion Webcam to open the webcam window and display an image from the webcam
  1. If the webcam icon is not on the desktop or on the Windows Start menu, click Start , and My Computer to open the My Computer window. The webcam should be listed under the Scanner and Cameras heading. Double click on the icon to open the webcam window and display an image from the webcam.
  2. If the webcam icon is not displayed on either the desktop or the My Computer window, or cannot be started from the Windows Start menu, the webcam is either disabled or the drivers are not installed.
Enable the webcam If the webcam icon is not displayed on either the desktop or the My Computer window, or cannot be started from the Windows Start menu, the webcam may be disabled. To enable the webcam, do the following actions.
  1. Click Start , right-click My Computer , and then select Properties .
  2. On the My Computer properties window, click on the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager .
  3. Click on the plus ( + ) sign next to Imaging Devices and locate the webcam item in the device list.
  4. If the webcam is listed under Imaging Devices but there is a red X on the c00678428.gif icon, the webcam is disabled. To enable the webcam, right-click the HP WebCam 1000 icon and click Enable . The webcam icon should now display on the Desktop or the My Computer window.
  5. If the webcam is not listed in the Device Manager window, you should install the original webcam drivers.
If you need the drivers see below.
  1. Install the original webcam drivers If the webcam is not listed in the Device Manager window, do the following activities to install the original webcam drivers using the HP System Recovery.
    1. Click Start , click All Programs , click System Recovery , and then click Application and Driver Recovery .
    2. On the Application and Driver Recovery window, select Driver installation and click Next .
    3. Select HP Pavilion Webcam from the list, and click Install .
    4. When prompted that the installation is complete, click OK .
    5. Allow the PC to restart and test the operation of the webcam.
When the webcam is operating, visit to the HP web site to look for and install the latest updated webcam drivers. If the quality of the image is not acceptable, you can perform a functional diagnostic test of the webcam.

Active desktop recovery problem appears often, i cant able to resolve this. could you pls advice me on this?

Is it an actual problem, or is it just the desktop recovery promp, that keeps coming up? If it's just the promp, you can disable it from the desktop recovery settings. If it's an actual problem, please describe the problem fully.

Active desktop recovery

It sounds like there is something causing the process explorer.exe to not start properly. Most likely a virus, but could be something wrong with windows itself. First of all, when you get to that white screen and there is no toolbar down the bottom, bring up the task manager (press control alt delete) and click the new task button down the bottom. Then type in explorer.exe and hopefully that will start up the toolbar down the bottom of the screen. you can also use the new task button to browse for any anti-virus program you have to run a scan to see what is causing the problem.
