Question about Philips 42PFL5332D 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Phillips hdtv I had work done yesterday on my cable. Now my tv will not switch between 1080 and 480 automatically. I have to view 480 on another input. I did not have to do this before. Could there be something hooked up incorrectly or should the tv controll this. I too have the same problem. I am using an HDMI cable and the tv only registers 480p. More specifically, I have a Panasonic 1080 DVD player connected via HDMI cable. I know the tv only displays 720p, and 480 really sucks!

If the cable box is sending in 1080 signal the tv will not be able to format to a 480 (you can switch to either/or)
the problem you have is if your not sending 1080 to the tv your not really watching HD but you cant strech the 4:3 (non HD channels) to the 16:9
the only thing you can do is run analog signal and a digital signal then switch between the two sorces for your HD and non HD programs

Hi i have a sansui sty1842 hd led but my ps2 is not working on it. i have plugged in the red, white and yellow cables and nothing

First of all make sure the cables are connected to the correct inputs, which you have probably already done. After that, I had the same problem with my sons tv when we got it. His is a phillips 42". I had to go to the phillips website and download a patch, copy it to a flash/thumb drive and plug that into the usb port on the tv and install the patch from the tv's menu. After that the Playstation worked fine.

I have a Phillips HDTV model #42PF7421D/37. When

Try another hdmi wire. Physically look at the hdmi port and see if there is damage done to the port. Change the source. IE another cable box, xbox 360 dvd play etc. If all else fails, change SSB or Scaler. Depending on the set. It'll be one or the other. I don't have my information with me at the moment to distinguish which one you'll have.

RCA DTA800 TV Converter Box I need TV codes for the remote to work. The TVs are a GE, phillips magnabox

Good day,
I might be missing something, but you are describing a converter box that converts digital signals from an antenna to analog.
The converter box will be set to channel 3, and you should set your tv's to channel 3 as well.
Using the remotes that came with the tv's go into setup and if available as an option, you will find an option to select cable/antenna or automatic. Select automatic or antenna and save. If there is a selector switch on the back of the tv's, set to 3.

Connect antenna cable into input, and use supplied cable to connect from the output of the converter to your tv.

plug in power supply for converter box, tune tv to channel 3 then follow instructions to setup converter box including channel scan.
When done, the converter remote will control everything. However, the tv volume control will work even though the converter remote will have volume as well. The tv remote as well is needed to shut off or turn on tv. These functions can on most tv's be performed on the set as well.

No codes are required. The converter remote will work on any tv.

If you want to use both tv's then you will need a splitter on the output of the converter to send the signal to both tv's. Only one channel can be viewed at a time.

Viewing separate Chanel's requires a second converter box and a splitter connected to the antenna cable for viewing separate channels.

More options are possible, but I hope this helps you get started.
The converter box takes place of the tv's tuner and in essence disables it.

on the Vid/Audio cable, there is a switch for TV and HDTV, TV is for yel, whi, red ONLY. HDTV is Gre,Red,Blu. You can't use the HDTV cables on a regular TV. it can be done the otherway around. but when using the Gre,Red,Blu cables, make sure the switch is on HDTV. Same thing with yel, whi, red, except the switch should be on TV.

Problem w60 inch using hdtv cable box

i know this problem, happened to me with the comcast Motorola HD receiver box. The key is with the setting in the cable box. Switch on the TV. Set the channel to normal tuner channel 3 or HD input. Turn off the cable HD box. Press the Menu Button on the Cable box or the remote. You should see a Menu. Use the cursor keys to navigate The default setup is also one of the option, Right click on your cursor keys acts like the computer keyboard enter key and applies the change. The default setup is 16:9, the shacking would happen if you have set the picture type to "PAN SCAN". change it to either 16:9 or 4:3 Letter Box. The shacking should stop. Hope it helps.
