Question about Philips 42PFL5332D 42 in. LCD Television
If the cable box is sending in 1080 signal the tv will not be able to format to a 480 (you can switch to either/or)
the problem you have is if your not sending 1080 to the tv your not really watching HD but you cant strech the 4:3 (non HD channels) to the 16:9
the only thing you can do is run analog signal and a digital signal then switch between the two sorces for your HD and non HD programs
