I have removed (easily) the plastic trim inside the door, but there is a metal frame that covers 1 of the 2 screws that hold the hadle on to the door. I need to replace the handle, but I cant access the screws to get the handle off the door.

Have Magic Chef over range microwave MCO153UWF. Handle broken, can get replacement $50.00. But how do you get into the door to take out old parts, without messing the integrity of the door?

My microwave handle has peeled for the 3rd time. It was covered under warranty the first 2 times and now they have no record of ever replacing it. I have purchased the handle so I could replace it myself... but I am having trouble. I can remove the plastic trim around the first 2 screws, but now I cant get to the second 2 behind the metal frame inside the door. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Hi ,

There is a inner door trim on the inside of the microwave door that can come off to expose the screws for the handle. This trim is held in place by clips built into the trim, ( some older models may also have screws - look for them and remove before going any further ) the tabs on this trim can break easily but with a putty knife and some patience, the trim can be removed to get at the handle screws. See picture help. This trim can be pushed so the clips will "pop" back into place after the handle repair.

Inneed to replace the door handle. I have the

The door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and/or replace the door handle:

The average cost for a replacement handle usually averages about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. However, price and configuration of your oven also depends upon the MODEL NUMBER.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. If the model number you listed this quesiton under is correct, you can refer to for some excellent exploded view diagrams of your microwave that confirms how the door is assembled. The part numbers for a new handle (if you haven't purchased one yet) are: 8169737 - (White) 8169738 - (Black) 8169739 - (Biscuit) 8184264 - (Stainless) Make sure you use the correct part number when ordering to ensure you get the correct color to match your appliance. I hope this helps you.

Need to replace broken door handle. Cannot get to screws inside door to release broken handle and replace with new handle.

Look for a removable insert around the inside window. If not there may be screws along the outside edges to separate the door sections. Eric

My door handle is broken. Is it posssible to

You should be able to buy only the door handle and avoid having to replace the entire door. carries the handle. Just type in the model number you provided and look for item #3 under the parts listing. The part number and price varies based on the color you need. Make sure you order the correct color. To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

I think you have solved your problem already.

I have seen your requesty only now and I am sending the diagram to replace handle.

You remove door latch (nr 3 on diagram) first, then you unscrew the screw nr .8 and remove handle (nr.7).

Below the diagram:

I have a GE Profile Microwave and the handle is broken....

I have the same issue. The Handle broke off my GE Microwave Oven (Model JVM1190SY 001). GE does not sell the handle seperately from what I can tell. I just ordered a new door. It's rediculously expensive. I tried to replace the handle with a nice drawer pull but couldn't find a size pull to match and I broke the plastic cover trying to get access to the screws for the handle, which is why I decided to buy the new door. Hopefully installation is not that difficult. This oven was manufactured in 2001, seems the handles have a 7 year life span.

Microwave door handle

First, never remove the door. You will disturb the alignment which holds in the microwaves. Generally, the door can be disassembled by removing the screws on the cavity side of the door. Once inside, then you should be able to replace the handle. Often the screws are of the torx variety...also call star.

The choke cover (or door gasket on your brand) will come out similar to the diagram shown below.

Then the hidden screws should be visible.
