Question about Kitchen Ranges

When I tried to set the time on our Maytag Performa range, the error message 5Ab popped up. Now the time won't set and the oven won't work since the panel controls it all. Can you tell me how to fix it?

    I have exactly the same problem. I unplugged the AC hoping it would reset itself, but the same error came back a few seconds later. The manual only refers to the gas setup and conversion from propane to LP gas. Nothing about the digital panel. I have a gas Magtag MGR4452BDW.

Why won't my oven let me set the temperature after a power failure?

Good Morning Annette,

I see that you are having trouble with setting the temperature of your oven on your range, model# FGB24S5A, after a power failure. I also see that you have reset your appliance by unplugging it and are receiving an error message of SAG or 5AB. I have looked into the model number that you have listed and it shows as a wall oven. I also do not show either of those error codes you have shown. If you can please get me the model number off your range, so I can better assist. The model number will either be right inside the oven on the back of the door or it may be located inside the bottom drawer. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Maytag performa code: 5Ab

Your range is probably in the Sabbath mode. The error code shown on the display is"Sab", not "5ab".

Press and HOLD the clock pad for 3 seconds to disable the sabbath mode. The range will return to normal functions.

My Kenmore oven won't work there is a PF 5AB error

The PF on your control indicates a power failure and should be removed by pressing the cancel button. The 5ab code indicates the range is in the SABBATH mode.

If a power failure occurs when the SABBATH mode is set, the oven will return to the OFF mode and will turn the power OFF to the oven.

To ENABLE SABBATH mode:

* Open the oven door
* Press STOP/CLEAR
* Press both the HOUR "UP" and "DOWN" arrow pad at the same time - and hold for 5 seconds.
SAB ON will disappear from the display.

To disable SABBATH mode: Repeat the steps above and SAB OFF will appear.

To set the SABBATH mode for use during the SABBATH/Holidays:
* Press BAKE
* Pres TEMP "UP" and "DOWN" Arrow pad to enter a different temperature other than 350 degrees. (Between 170F and 500F)
* Press COOK TIME
* Press HOUR/MIN "up" or "down" arrow to set cook time
* Press DELAY START to set a delayed cook time (optional)
* Press and hold TIMER OFF for 5 seconds
SAB will appear on the display indicating it is ready.
* Press START
* To STOP cooking - press STOP/CLEAR
* To exit the SABBATH mode and return to normal operation - press and hold TIMER OFF for 5 seconds.

unaBLE to check/locate yor model number inthe maytag library, but you can check your manual( if you have it) or call the manufacture for a replacement of it. your unit is set in "sabbath" mode. "SAB" the book will explain how to get it out.
